Who doesn’t need more energy? You can almost never have to much, with all there is to get done in a day.
- Drink water like crazy. The majority of people today are dehydrated and what a difference it makes in your energy level. Start drinking water, and notice the results almost immediately.
- Stree-eee-tch! Especially if you work at a computer or desk all day long, you need to periodically stretch. If you can, try taking a yoga or pilates class.
- Exercise. You might be thinking “I’m so tired! I can’t exercise,” but you will thank yourself in the long run. Having a healthy, active lifestyle will infuse you with tons of energy.
- Eat healthy. My favorite snack - almonds. They’re super tasty to snack on, healthy, energizing. Food is intended to fill you with energy, so make sure it’s the good kind. Greasy cheeseburgers, fries, chips and candy are all going to suck the energy right out of you, not to mention what they do to your figure.
- Eat six mini meals a day. Instead of eating three big meals a day, cut it down into smaller meals, more often. This will keep you from gorging yourself when you do it. Overeating is a big energy drain.
- Cut out coffee, soda and energy drinks. This are just band aids and do more harm than good in the long run. Personally, this is my toughest challenge - I love, love, love my lattes. But, a steamed milk with shot of vanilla, or London Fog with decaf tea is a tasty treat as well.
- Keep your iron levels healthy. What makes someone really, really tired? Anemia, that’s what. You can eat a spoonful of molasses everyday, or take an iron supplement.
- Get plenty of sleep. Most people need about 7 hours of sleep a night. Some people need more, some people (teenagers) need more.
- But don’t oversleep. A binge, 12 hour sleep will leave you feeling more sluggish than well-rested.
- Live a fulfilling life! The best way to have a good night’s rest is to have a busy day, full of activities that bring you fulfillment, and joy. The most active people have the best sleeps, and they are able to be active again the following day.
Grab the reigns of your life, revitalize and re-energize!
