There is a lot of talk about 2012 signaling the end of the world. For the most part all the talk is generated around the Mayan calendar which ends on that date. For all we know it could just be a coincident and December 21st 2012 marked a stopping point where the Mayans were going to start working on a new Calendar. But for whatever reason something more pressing came up. Or simply because of antiquity we have not been able to find any other artifacts referencing a later tabular version.

But for sake of argument let’s assume those interpreting the findings are in fact correct. The Mayans discontinued making calendars because they wanted to leave prosperity a sign of the coming of the “End of The World as We Know It” and the implication was meant to be a doomsday message.

This is the popular view and a number of people have seized on this theme and have run with it. Even Sony Picture is producing what is being hailed as a block buster film to be released in November of 2009. The plot attributes “The End of the World” to a natural disaster.

Sony has gone the route of one of two possible directions when it comes to the path of destruction. In this case mankind is wiped out by a natural disaster and not a planet killer as some others have suggested.

With respect to the global killer theory there is Planet X or the Nibiru alignment which has been handed down to us by way of Sumerian prophecy. It predicts that a meteor or planet which is in the habit of making periodic visit to our solar system every 3000 years or so is predicted to return in 2012. The fact that our astronomers can not see the planet has to do with some kind of weird science I do not quite understand. Some even go so far to suggest in the case of the Nibiru alignment scenario the planet is even inhabited.

The Nibiru prophecy is based on the writing of Zecharia Sitchin; who I must admit I am a big fan. His scholarship and his writings make these events and predictions particularly scary for me. Zecharia Sitchin’s work has its basis and strong ties to the Judaic Christian Bible.

For example his, Anunnaki, the inhabitants of the invading planet bare a strong similarity to the Bible’s Old Testament reference to the Nephlim. Who some have come to write off as angels. However, other Bible scholars do not draw such a conclusion. None the less for the sake of our discussion we are talking about a cosmic struggle that may result in the total annihilation of the planet earth.

So the ties to the Bible do not stop with allegories about angels. Rather it goes further to those who represent that the Bible is a book of codification riddled with ciphers. Many have dubbed these codes as scientific proof the scriptures have the ability to predict the future. Some say the Bible Codes also foretell a comet will hit the earth in the year 2012.

All these predictions about comets or meteors striking the planet are quite disheartening especially now that United States has an African American President. Shades of Hollywood prophecy, “Deep Impact, (1998) where the president of the US is played by Morgan Freeman, a black man. He holds the office of the presidency presiding over a potential cataclysmic event where the earth is about to be destroyed by a planet killing asteroid. Such wrath of God type punishment is so typical of Old Testament themes.

Then there are the New Testament’s allegories to “The End of the World as We Know It”. The role Jesus the Christ plays as well as the significance of the Rapture is predominantly at the center. The Christian and Judaic contract is fulfilled with the return of the Messiah after the defeat of the Anti Christ.

Yet there are some who believe that the Anti Christ is not just one person but a group of people. Therefore it stands to reason it may be possible that the Second Coming of the Messiah could also be more than one person? Could it be the Second Coming is related to a group of people or even a nation? Not a nation as we understand it consisting of a large populous that lives within the confines of the same borders.

What if this nation was defined by a common experience a shared adroitness? Not a conventional everyday experience but a shared knowledge of profound significance. It is my contention that such a shared occurrence is in fact what the Bible in the Book of Revelation defines as the Rapture.

Where a vast number of people will be called or “caught up in an instant or a twinkling of an eye”. The Rapture does not mean death but it is a gift of life and those who are fortune enough to undergo the change or are the recipients of what many think will be a Christ-like set of skills.

They will in fact comprise a new nation, a nation of significant size and influence to usher in a new age of peace and prosperity. This uplifting interpretation is in keeping with the tradition of New Age Religion born out of the New Testament as apposed to the fire and brimstone planet annihilation approach of the Old Testament.

Scientifically this notion of instantaneous spiritual evolution is not so farfetched especially when one links it with possible events of 12.21.2012 and the alignment of the earth with the solar system. Think of the Rapture as certain individuals becoming aligned with the universe. Could such an occurrence be hidden in the Mayan meaning “End of The World as We Know It”?

The mind is an amazing organism. Just like the planet’s magnetic alignment individuals have electro magnetic frequencies or wavelengths. There are an infinite amount of individualistic frequencies and wavelengths but some are closer in alignment than others.

The Mayan had an incredible understanding of time and the solar system. As mentioned their calendar started this whole business and the time table had an extremely accurate calendar-cal system. It predicted lunar and solar eclipses. It also predicted movement of the planets. Their calendar consisted of 18 months and each month had 20 day with 5 days left over. The calendar year added up to 365 days, same as ours. This was their Planting and Harvesting Calendar.

They also had a Sacred Calendar. They used it for making predictions. It had 260 days. It was their belief history was made up of 5 ages and each ended in disaster. According to the Mayan calendar we are living in the 5th age and December 21st 2012 is the end of the fifth age. On this date the earth will lined up with the center of the galaxy. With this alignment the ancient Mayans believd it would cause the earths magnetic field to shift resulting in many natural disasters.

Now what does that mean? Well keep in mind the Mayan culture was riddle with a bit of insanity. They believed to ease the possibility of these disasters at the end of an age blood had to be spilt. So during the time when an age was coming to a conclusion the Mayans engaged in ritualistic sacrifice which consisted of the massive slaughter of human life. In modern terms we call it war.

But for those of us who are more optimistic and rooted in the teaching of the New Testament we tend to reject the need for apocalyptic type bloodletting. For me a more scientific and more humane twist on the prophecy with respect to the Rapture is more appealing.

To further support this point lets discuss ancient and modern day oracles. For example, the Oak Leaves Apocalypse which some have called the most important religious books of ancient Rome. They were written by a post antediluvian oracle who predicted the world would last for nine periods consisting of eight hundred years each. After these nine periods there would be a tenth and last period. Yes, we are living in the tenth period.

This prophecy was written down on scrolls and was called the Sybilline Prophecy. These scrolls have many profound predictions most notably the coming of the Christ. There have been many famous oracles. Most of us are familiar with the Greek Oracle Adelphi but none seemed to be preoccupied with modern times like the Roman author of the Oak Leaves Apocalypse.

This brings us to what might be the most credible oracle of them all. One we can all relate to, the modern day oracle, The Internet. Such an oracle is the Web Bot Project. Developed in late the 1990’s I believe it is key to understanding the Rapture. Originating as a computer program it was written to predict possible stock futures or purchases. Evidently making an investment is in and of itself a prediction about the future.

The Web Bot project used mini programs to go out into the internet and search for future financial news. These mini programs were called Spiders but now have been nicknamed Web Bots.

The concept behind the program is to scan massive amount of language being used on the internet. The frequency in language use reveals relevant information about the planet’s collective psyche. The authors believe it is a window into the universal subconscious. What is germane here; where the program was once just used for financial possibilities the project has evolved. It is now being used to make all sorts of predictions.

It would appear that collectively what we think comes to be. For example, by collecting data on the prevalent usage of words or language the Web Bots has been able to accurately predict terrorist attacks, earthquakes, the increase rate of hurricanes and other natural disasters such as tsunamis. It has even been reported. The Web Bots have predicted events marked by 2008, 2009 timeframe that may be leading up to some kind of limited nuclear war in 2012. If true this is an amazing read into the human mind.

The grander implication means we are in control of our destiny. The manifestation of many prophecies has been attributed to psychotropic affects but with the Web Bot Project we have a direct link. The power of the mind, our thoughts and our intentions are the root of causation.

The Web Bot Project is a great advocate for redefining the Rapture. The effectiveness of its predictions reinforces the premises behind my loose reference or re-characterization of the Bibles term Rapture found in revelations to a possible spiritual evolution or at very least a possible spiritual revolution in the making.

For those of us who are in tune. Whose amplitude is a littler higher than the naysayers, please turn it up. Now is the time to stay focused. The nihilists are out there. They do not know any better. We have always known since the first time we heard the creation story we are the stewards of this planet. It is our responsibility to guard all its inhabitants. Your every thought depends on it.

Some events that will take place in 2012:

  • The earth will lined up with the center of the galaxy
  • The US Presidential election and the possible reelection of President Obama
  • The Presidential elections in France, South Korea, Mexico
  • The solar eclipse throughout the Pacific Ocean it will be seen from California to China
  • The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad, will be held in London, England

Very interesting and good article. I have always been curious about the 2012 predictions and have read up on many of the prophecy's. It should definitely be an interesting year in the future. I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time to see just what will happen that year.

I think it is important to view the Mayan predication as a rebirth not an apocalypse... it carries too many negative connotations, and as you yourself believe positive thought leads to positive actuality. In the creation stories from the Mayans there is always death in rebirth. In our modern way of looking at things it simply should be seen as a massive evolution. Perhaps best seen as the death of our current 'way' and a rebirth into a new 'way'.

Change is the nature of physical things, attempting to avoid it can only cause suffering... after all we can only effect 'now' everything else is past or future. I think regardless of how one does it... if one embraces the positive aspects of change, for what ever they bring, one can bring about the positive mindset that you talk of.
