Boosting your energy is something that is paramount in this day and age of nutritionally bankrupt processed foods. Until about thirty years ago farmers and ranchers raised food, sold it to the distributors who in turn packaged and distributed it to the stores where the average consumer could go and buy real food. Then the outcry for longer lasting foods was heard across the globe and packagers and processors took over. What happened next was practically a crime. They began to take the good wholesome food the farmers grew and pumped it full of preservatives, forever changing it into something barely akin to the product it was originally. As this continued it became evident that food had lost it’s nutritional value so they began injecting supplements back into the food, artificially produced supplements to take the place of the natural supplements they had taken out. Not the best plan.
I only take the time to bring this up because this is one of the major contributors to our failing energy levels; as a society. Unless you shop totally organic, as many people do, you are ingesting not only nutritionally bankrupt food but sometimes food that actually saps your energy. Don’t believe it, look at the effects of high fructose sugar and hydrogenated oils. They not only increase our urges to eat more by tricking the brain into thinking we are not full but they do not deliver the energy necessary for even our normal daily routine.
There are many ways out and most are not as painful as you might think. The three most basic are;
- First, eat healthy. Raw is best. Lightly cooked is OK. Try to avoid prepackaged or precooked food if at all possible. No, you don’t have to live on tofu and granola, which are good foods but both are processed. You are not going to completely eliminate processed foods from your diet but the more you can eliminate the better you will feel and when you feel good you will without question have more energy. Personally I love tofu but that is another Factoid for the future.
- Second, take dietary supplements. There is no way you will get the type and amounts of nutritional supplements and vitamins from the food on the average grocery store shelves that you need. Be cautious if you under a doctor’s care or are taking any type of medication. Do some research and find a vitamin supplement that will work for you and your doctor if you have one. Don’t fall into the vitamin specialty store trap of buying fifteen different supplements that combined don’t do the job a single multi-supplement will at ten times the cost. They separate these minerals and vitamins for a reason; so they can sell them separately for a much higher return. These people are not necessarily concerned with your ultimate health unless it also concerns their ultimate wealth. Liquid food derived multi-vitamin supplements are the best. Your body will struggle to assimilate most tablets and chances are it will only get about half the actual benefit from them. Always GO LIQUID when you can. I find that “Nature’s Plus” produces a great liquid called “Source of Life” that is all I look for in a multi.
- Third, and here is the real key; exercise. Every expert around the world will tell you this is the key to good health. It is absolutely essential. Without exercise it does not matter what great foods you eat or what wonderful supplements you take. You won’t be healthy, you won’t have energy, you won’t lose weight, you won’t be lucid when you are a senior citizen. Yeah I know, some of you are thinking “But if I don’t have energy how can I exercise?” The real answer to that question is “If you don’t exercise you will NEVER have more energy!” As a matter of fact your energy will diminish on a daily basis.
This isn’t rocket science, although the rocket scientists at NASA know this simple formula and designed a program that the Astronauts live by; - eat nutritious food, - take good supplements to help rid your body of a lifetime of eating poorly, - and most of all exercise, lots of it. The more the better. Walking, walking, walking. Come on, it’s not going to kill you to walk around the block once or twice a day. From there you can increase the amount of exercise you can take, before long, who knows maybe you’ll join a gym and actually go to it regularly. Good luck and keep walking.
