"If it don’t money, it don’t make sense!" I make money, money don’t make me!" from Gorilla Zoe (Don’t Make Sense single 2009). This seems to be the theme behind the film Bruno. Sascha Baron Cohen (Bruno) takes comedy to levels which white males wonder if being straight or gay is sanctioned by the public. Bruno is a different character than Borat, yet the homosexuality one could sense from the concession stands of a theater. TO be candid here, I am a hunger hyponotasense (hypocritical person without alot of common sense). Bottom line ladies and gents, save your nine bucks, and wait for You-tube to dl (down load) it. For many of us out there who think we have reached a new level of decadence via this film, you are correct and incorrect. As long as people like me will pay money to witness junk yard comedy, then Cohen will make the gay lifestyle the norm of America. The problem with that; Ancient Greece, Rome and some modern areas of Europe tried this without much success. To be sure how much influence does this community have on politics or style, ask Carrie Prejean (former Ms. CA).
"Fantastiq" exclaims Bruno throughout the Opus (Work) as he fights being gay, being straight, and casting satire at terrorism, the Middle East, Celebs, Milan Fashion Week. But don’t let the previews fool you, its grosser than before. The Greeks used many phallic symbols throughout their empire, but not Cohen. He simply uses his god given parts to gross us out. This movie should have received a "XX" rating. For those of you not 40 or older, back in ’70s there were the "X" rating. Some movies were given a "XX" or a "XXX." For these ratings, we hid in the trunk of a vehicle in order to watch it at a drive in. Today hell, I saw some 13 year olds in there! Before I start preaching, in order for civilization to work, there has to be an order. Just as in Government.
I don’t want to sound judgmental here. God gifts us all in different ways. How one utilizes their abilities towards their beliefs is up to them. Cohen apparently wants the world to acknowledge his gayness in film, and subliminally make it the coolest trend in the U. S. Communities in the Late Middle Ages such as Florence Italy would have found Bruno to be a Donatello or Michelangelo! There were over 17,000 citizens charged with open gay acts (starts with an "S") back from 1445-1465. Don’t believe me, check out "Mental Floss of the History of the World" by Steve Wiegand (2009). The only beef which T.o.C. (myself) has with Cohen is to leave the church alone. Then he puts his adopted baby on a Crucifix painting, walks down the Gaza strip mocking the Jewish faith. You know I deserved to be hit upside my head tonight; its comedy and nothing is off limits. Monty Python certainly did not worry about making the Church uneasy about it’s medieval practices.
Enough already; though we could have seen Transformers 2, i have a PS2 for that impotence of a theme. Much rather fight conscience over issues than just salivate over Megan Fox. There is a common theme between Cohen and most of us, we all want to be famous. Deep down rather you are a hunter (like the film) in Alabama, or working at Burger King, we all seek fame and fortune. Some of us do what is required or fate allows us the time and place to make this happen. This is what Hollywood and the American Dream is made of. But if someone has to sell their soul to get there, for Cole the truth, it’s mediocrity well done at my table.
