Golden Hair was a beautiful, kind, thoughtful and understanding soul, although for purposes unknown to the long straight tresses Golden Hair and this author, a trusting soul as well. Unknown to this author and perhaps even to the Green Eyed Monster, the Green Eyed Monster was not necessarily green-eyed, nor was she a kind, thoughtful and an understanding soul. However, she was beautiful with her long straight dark brown hair and eyes.
We find these two in the sixth grade, being approximately eleven or twelve years of age. Understand that the Green Eyed Monster was here first, having lived in the area all her life, and Golden Hair was merely transferred along with her family to this new area. The Green Eyed Monster of course, had two friends, and for the sake of the story we shall call them Tit and Tat.
Upon first arriving at the school Golden Hair had noticed some negative vibrations; however, unsure of its location of approach. This was too soon to change, since these children spent a great deal of time in the same room for classes. This new school was nice, thought Golden Hair; she loved learning and going to school. She watched and participated in the various things children do while in school.
Her favorite time was talent time, when the children took a turn to show off their special talents. She found it delightful to watch as the others presented their very best. Tit and Tat had shown off their amazing acrobatics and gymnastic talents, as did the Green Eyed Monster. When it was time for her talent time presentation Golden Hair stood and sang for the entire class and amazed them as well.
Soon after, Golden Hair found herself-confronted and surrounded by the group of the Green Eyed Monster, Tit and Tat along with some other children. For some strange reason, the Green Eyed Monster challenged Golden Hair to fight behind the neighborhood store the next day, which was Saturday at noon; there was at that time only one neighborhood store. Golden Hair smiled her charming smile, nodded and continued walking, still unsure of what the problem was with the Green Eyed Monster in particular.
As fate would have it, Golden Hair along with her siblings and mother were swifted away that day by her father to some place or another, and passing of course, by the neighborhood store at precisely noon the next day. She could see that no one else was there and wondered why anyone would think she would want to walk along in that over-grown brushy place anyway, and then she realized it was a prank as well as cowardice on the part of the Green Eyed Monster from the start.
She never mentioned it to them at school, they certainly made no reference concerning the matter to her, and the next few weeks passed on until summertime. However, she did dwell from time to time over the hurtful things and negative energy that was directed her way and this influenced her feelings concerning the Green Eyed Monster, Tit and Tat. Although, something told her that Tat was simply along for the ride, since she was a close neighbor of the other two girls.
Before long, it was back to school time and this year they were in the seventh grade and at a bigger, newer school along with a great many other children. Golden Hair went on to make many other good friends and then one day she found herself in the new school bathroom along with Tat. Tat told her then that she was sorry about the way that the Green Eyed Monster and Tit had treated her and she was sorry for her own participation. Golden Hair was kind, thoughtful and understanding.
Before that year was over, Golden Hair found herself being transferred once again along with her family to a new area. Thoughtfully, she considered the time she had spent in this place and something kept nagging at her heart. She thought and thought and thought and then she decided to make the telephone call.
She waited until she was alone in the house, searched for the telephone number of the number one disc jockey at the time, in the early 1970s for the Harker Heights, Killeen and Fort Hood area, and dialed the number. Luckily, or as Fate would have it, the Green Eyed Monster answered the telephone. Golden Hair was thankful that she did not have to ask an adult if she could speak with the Green Eyed Monster.
Golden Hair told the Green Eyed Monster who she was, and then she told her that she forgave her for the way that she had treated her and hoped that the Green Eyed Monster could forgive her for holding it against her. The Green Eyed Monster asked her to repeat herself, telling her she did not understand what she said. Being used to this, not being understood that is, since a lot of what she says generally goes way over the heads of others, Golden Hair repeated herself. The Green Eyed Monster laughed and laughed and laughed. Golden Hair hung up the telephone feeling better for her self and feeling sadness for the Green Eyed Monster.
Eventually, Golden Hair was transferred along with her family. This author has no idea where the Green Eyed Monster may have gone or may be. However, this author does know that somewhere out there the Green Eyed Monster is out there lurking and waiting in some deep dark sickness that he or she is unable to control for one reason or another.
The Moral of this Story is:
While facing the Green Eyed Monster it is best to show the utmost grace, dignity, strength, and compassion as is possible. This is not always an easy task; however, when the Green Eyed Monster decides to take on a victim perhaps they should not take for granted the self-esteem of those such as Golden Hair.
Another thing to keep in mind, if you are the Green Eyed Monster is that sometimes it is best to let Golden Hair be, so you do not find yourself as a character in her stories of the bullies of the world, since you may just find that you are not so anonymous, even with the names changed to protect the innocent and not so innocent of the tale.
Interestingly, the pen or in this case keypad is sharper than tongue and mightier that the sword.
Note to Victims of Bullies:
For those of you who find yourselves as a victim of a bully, you need to understand that your bully is playing to their own loss of sense, something that they lack, they see in you. Depending upon their own character, they make their choices. Understand that you Do Not Have to Do anything to attract the attention of a bully. They stand waiting for their victims, if it is not you, then it is someone else. This says a great deal about the minds, hearts and souls of bullies.
If you are not able to smile your smile and make your way around a sad and pitiful bully, then you should consider finding and getting help. Know that you are not alone when it comes to being bullied, many people have been bullied and if my guess is right, those people may just stand up to someone who is being a bully of someone else. Look for help; ask for help, you do not have to allow anything to happen to you!
Moreover, keep in mind, when you understand that the problem with a bully is his or her very own problem and not yours, it is much easier to smile about the whole thing, even while it is happening.
