Can You Make Money With Multi-Level Marketing?

Learn More About Possible Ways To Make Money Online And The Best Choice For You

When searching for a way to make money from a home business, you will find countless opportunities and before making any type of investment, time or money, be sure to understand how you will make that money. You should also consider that many of these so-called opportunities will require actual work on your part, so those offers that claim you can make money while you sleep probably aren’t going to perform as you expected.

Consider that MLMs, as they are so often called, rely on you making certain sales goals as well as recruiting others into the ranks. Typically, you make a percentage of your sales as a commission and you make a commission on the sales made by your recruits. Depending on the program, the number of levels through which you make commission will vary with the percentage of sales commission decreasing for the number of levels in your group.

There are three essentials you will need in order to make money through multi-level marketing: a viable product or service, sales marketing and others working under you. It also helps to know that in order to make any money; you will have to do some actual work. No company is going to give you something for nothing, regardless of the hype they use to sign you up and collect your “franchise fee.”

Multi-level marketing has been around for many years and many people and companies have made significant income with this type of business model. Think vacuum cleaners, household products, cosmetics and jewelry. Direct to consumer marketing has been a driving force with many of these companies and they all counted on the sales people in the field to grow. In order to increase their sales, they offered different levels of compensation to their people based on sales of others they have recruited.

Consider the product you are pushing

It all starts with the product or service being offered. When looking for an opportunity, think about the item you are selling. Consider whether you use the item and whether your friends and family will also use the item. Consumable products, that is something that is used quickly by the consumer, by far offer the best opportunities. If a person only uses the item once a year, your chances of repeat sales are limited.

How your product or service will be marketed and to whom will be the next major consideration. Many times, you will be charged a monthly fee for nationally advertising and your presence in a community will help attract customers. With many of the current MLM programs, all advertising is up to the individual. While this can help improve your sales, it can also be expensive. Especially, if you are hawking something that most people do not want.

You family and friends will be what is called your warm network. That is the people that you talk you while you get your foot in the door with the particular product. Cold calling is not a strong suit for many people and they soon find themselves with a limited customer base, once their family and friends have made their purchase.

Excitement about an opportunity is what helps many of these companies succeed while their MLM sales force fails. Many charge a fee for a “sales kit” or for becoming a member of their sales force. With some of these companies, it is an honest investment; however with many of them, it is how they make their money. Think long and hard about any opportunity with allows you to represent their products but do not pay commissions unless you are a paid member of their organization.

You also need to be wary of companies that place more emphasis on recruiting than in making sales. Think about it. You can have a hundred people working under you and they each have a hundred people you recruited. After you receive the token payout for convincing them to sign up under you, if none of these people sell anything, you make nothing. Even with a 50-percent commission, 50-percent of nothing is still nothing.

Too many scams have permeated the MLM market and many people have unknowingly become part of a scam. When companies push for recruits instead of sales, they are likely running an illegal pyramid scam. It will not take long for this pyramid to tip over on its point and the whole thing falls apart. The only one making any money from these scams are the ones at the top of the heap. When it falls apart they simply devise another product or service they can convince others to join and start their income scam all over again.
