To avoid accidentally losing one of your gemstones or damaging your jewelry by falling you can place a soft bath cloth in the sink covering the drain when you clean or care for your jewelry over a bathroom or kitchen sink. Always rinse your jewelry with lukewarm water and then allow it to dry completely after cleaning it.

There are available commercial cleaners available to help eliminate tarnish. There are also various jewelry cleaners in containers that allow for dipping your jewelry or if suitable you may wish to purchase your own ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. You should always follow the directions of any type of in home jewelry cleaner. You will also find that a soft chamois cloth is an effective means of cleaning your jewelry and inexpensive means of keeping all your jewelry pieces immaculately radiant and beautiful.

If you are in doubt be sure to ask your jeweler for his or her recommendation of any of these types of jewelry cleaning products. Keep in mind however, that you should always seek the advice of your jeweler before cleaning any type of gold jewelry that may include colored gemstones, since various gemstones have specific cleaning procedures that offer the best results. In order to prevent any denting or scratching you should store you gold jewelry in a soft lined lint free jewelry box or jewelry bag. Inspect your jewelry on a regular basis for any type of loose gemstone settings or any other damage and then have it repaired professionally if the need arises.
