Hair thinning, as evident by the name is a gradual process of hair loss, which can even lead to total baldness. Hair loss can occur due to a variety of reasons, the most common of which is Androgenic Alopecia, it is the genetic reason for hair loss and more commonly known as male pattern baldness but since women have low levels of male sex hormones, therefore, the pattern baldness in women is assorted by hair thinning and not by complete hair loss. Excessive use of electrical appliances such as hair straighteners or curlers and hair styling products containing chemicals can provoke hair thinning faster than you can imagine. Iron deficiency, chemotherapy and high level of testosterone hormone also contribute their share in stimulating hair loss.

Hair thinning is a problem more common among women than men. The reason, perhaps, is the excessive use of hair styling products and procedures, but who can blame them when the “Victoria’s Secret” culture induced, big wavy and tousled hair is what every girl seems to yearn for. Sooner or later, after enough perming and highlighting, there comes a time when you realize that you can’t take your big wavy fuller hair for granted, this usually happens when, one fine day you are sitting in front of a mirror, untangling your hair with a brush and all of a sudden you come to realize that you can literally see through to the roots on your scalp.

These last few lines paint quite a picture! Don’t they? But relax, the last thing you want to do at a time like this is to get stressed. Why, you ask? Well, stress has also been noticed as one of the major causes of hair loss.
