I wish I knew what happened to Craig’s List. In 2007, I used it constantly, and sold many things. I sold $4,000.00 worth of firewood as fast as I could cut and split it. I would deliver it and on my way back if I saw a couch on the side of the road in good condition, I would throw it in the trailer and take it home. After quick 30 minute cleaning, I would take a picture, post it and the next morning there were usually a few offers. I sold around ten couches, love seats and chairs for around $100.00 each. For some reason I couldn’t even give away a bureau. I even sold a bunch of tools. I held my entire “going out of business sale” on CraigsList. It was all good. I even made a bunch of contacts that led to some side work. Now, it’s just not the same. I can’t sell a thing. Which sucks for me because I’m clueless about eBay.
I know many use Craig’s List for swinging. Recently here in Rhode Island, in fact only eight miles from my house, some woman was nearly murdered by the CraigsList Killer. Maybe you’ve heard about it. How pathetic for this poor, sexually adventurous couple: “Ya wanna have sex with my wife while I watch?”…”Nah. But I’ll rob her and kill her while you’re getting the video camera!” Craig’s list has always been about scams. They do caution you not to fall victim to fraud. The kind of fraud they warn you about isn’t this ultra violent, tragic, X-rated kind though. It’s the people from a world away, that don’t want to do your wife, or even kill her. They just want to trick you, with broken English and a lame attempt at colloquial expressions like “ASAP”, into cashing a counterfeit check. Here is one that a ran into when I posted a nail gun for sale:
My post, but first the CraigsList advisory:
** CRAIGSLIST ADVISORY — AVOID SCAMS BY DEALING LOCALLY
** Avoid: wiring money, cross-border deals, work-at-home
** Beware: cashier checks, money orders, escrow, shipping

This is the newer gun that takes the short fuel cells. It needs a battery.
Scammer’s response:
Do you still have it available and also your price.
He responded the same way to a few other random things that I had posted. This tipped me off that he might be a scammer.
My response:
Yes. Price is listed. Why did you respond to everything that I posted? Email back with a personal note so I know you’re not a scammer. Thanks- Kevin
