Are you looking for some original, meaningful, and easy-to-make Christmas gifts? Here are some fun craft ideas that anyone, any age, can create. Your friends and family will adore these hand-crafted Christmas gifts.
Beaded Bracelets
Get your creative juices flowing when you take a step inside the bead aisle at your local craft store. You can find a beading kit for under $15 which includes wire and cord, a variety of beads, crimping and needle nose pliers, and a beading board to help arrange your masterpieces. These kits generally produce 12 pieces of jewelry. This is a great way to get children started on making beautiful gifts for loved ones. If you are looking to create a more original piece, spend some time in the beading aisle. Here you will find a wide variety of glass, stone, and plastic beads arranged by color along with all the findings to finish off a beautiful piece of jewelry. The cost of several strands of beads is minimal and will produce several fine pieces.
Scrapbook
A scrapbook is a keepsake item that will be cherished by anyone who receives it. These days you can find scrapbooking essentials at any local retailer (Target, Wal-Mart, Michaels) and you don’t have to be an expert. This is a budget friendly craft; you could spend as little at $5 on a small scrapbook kit or upwards of $50. Most stores have scrapbook kits that come with all of the essentials (a scrapbook, matching designer paper, and die cut stickers). Check out the dollar bins at Target. I put together my first scrapbook for $5 just by buying all the materials from the dollar bins. For the more adventurous crafter, spend some time in the scrapbooking aisle at your local craft store. Here you will find individual scrapbooks, designer papers, and a plethora of die cut stickers and labels.
Christmas Ornaments
All you need is some heavy felt in different colors, a hot glue gun and a variety of colored beads! Children love creating wintry characters with felt. A snowman, an angel, and a wreath are simple yet allow for lots of creativity. If your child has good fine motor skills, encourage him to develop templates or patterns on waxed paper for the rest of the family to use. A snowman only needs 3 white circles of varying sizes. Likewise, an angel can be made out of basic geometric shapes (triangles and circles) as well as the circular wreath. There shouldn’t be a specific order to creating these ornaments. Any materials you have laying around the house (scraps of material, ribbons, googly eyes) will add to the beauty of these hand-made gifts.
