There is no good and bad. There simply is. As human beings we are the ones who attach meaning to our world. We have placed the labels on the events, actions and others that are a part of our existence. This is clear when consider the perceptions of two individuals witnessing the same event. For this purpose we will use the example of a sporting event. A New Yorker cheering for the Yankees will see a home run by David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox as bad, while a Boston fan will be on his feet yelling and jumping and down.
The home run for that fan is good.
While life is certainly a bit more complicated than a Red Sox - Yankee game, the idea is the same. We perceive the world from our own frame of reference. In order to make sense of it, we attach meaning to the events and label them as either good" or "bad". What if, something we have thought of as "bad" actually turns out to be the greatest blessing in our life? Have you ever had such an experience? Something you initially felt was terrible; days, weeks or even years later is revealed to have been the cause of powerful and wonderful change in your life. Any thoughts at the time of "where was God?" are suddenly quite clear: God was always there.
God does not "cause" good and bad. God responds to It’s corresponding nature in us.
As we think and believe, God responds. How we chose to see our world and our life is exactly what shows up. A pessimist will see only the "bad" things all around. Life will feel "bad" and dis-ease will be a part of the pessimists world. An optimist will look for the blessings, look for what is good in the world, and the good will out way anything that might be thought of as less than good. A different analogy might be the discovery of a pregnancy. Is this good or bad? Depending on your circumstance, the conditions under which you find yourself with child, and perhaps even your physical health will determine that answer.
God’s only desire for us is that we are happy and allow It to express through us, as us.
There is no "punishment" or desire to us in pain. God cannot respond to It’s beloved children in this manner. God is Unconditional Love. The "bad" that is out-pictured in our world is a result of a collective consciousness and belief and perception that these things are in fact "bad." It is not the result of some vendetta of an Almighty and angry God.
God Is. We are. What we chose to call what we see around us, is our choice.
