Domain of Heroes - a Game Review.

Hey guys. In this article we will discuss the browser MMO game, ‘Domain of Heroes’, and how well it fits its target market (aka the browser gamers or people with not a lot of time on their hand.

Okay, so let’s get down to business.

Gameplay:

The quest lore is just simply… indescribably awesome. Compared to some browser games I’ve seen, the developer/s have put a lot of time making quest lore interesting and making you actually WANT to do the quest for the lore, not for the money or the item you get after you complete the quest. However, most of the time, the game is almost all grind. With the game’s semi-AFK system where you can just leave your computer to automatically go into battles for you however (must be in a battle already), the grind doesn’t really seem as much. Looking at it in a certain perspective though, the game is MOSTLY based around an item-grindingfest. All the best items are found how? By grinding, unfortunately.

Onto the race/class combo section. There are a plethora of classes and races to play, including: Angels, Minotaurs, Humans (duh), Halflings, Half-Elves, and even a Troll! Classes include being a warrior, a monk, and perhaps even a Necromancer if you feel so inclined. The downside of having so many race/class combos to choose from though, is the IMBA aspect of some race/class combos. EG, an Orc Warrior would be a lot more powerful than, say, a Human Warrior. This is mainly because of the skills and/or stat gains per level. However, because there are no penalties for choosing the wrong class/race combo, you can literally play any class/race combo. Even a Werewolf Necromancer, and it says that Werewolves don’t do magic, which is actually quite funny.

Does this fit the target market well?

Yes, because of the semi-AFK system but you get logged out after a period of time of being AFK. As well as this, the grindfest may be too much for some people and they may bore themselves out of playing Domain of Heroes.

Community:

They’re really awesome. Really. I can’t express my gratitude for how much they’ve helped me, given me advice, and told me some tips for end-game quest bosses. You can talk to the rest of the community via a chat box in the ‘Chat/Info’ tab on the Domain of Heroes UI. Although some people would say that Domain of Heroes is closer to a ‘Teen’ rated game, the chat is strictly E10 so no sexual, drug, or references that would otherwise reference 18+ content.

The mods are friendly as well as helping. I haven’t met any mods who abuse their mod-powers yet, but sometimes things just get misunderstood and the mods sometimes aren’t cautious enough (had this one incident where a mod asked a player to change his name because the name of a player had the mod thinking it was a Mature Content reference. Fair play to the mod though). To sum it up, all the mods are friendly and can handle themselves in a situation.

Does this fit the target market well?

Yes, there’s no trolls trying to put you down and the community is always helping someone on their way. I find this a rare aspect of some communities, as in browser game communities (let’s take Runescape for example) someone is always trying to drag someone down by calling them a ‘n00b’, or a ‘noob’, or insulting them with a ‘Ya Mom’ insult.

RMT:

You can purchase Wishes through the ‘Wishes’ tab on the Domain of Heroes UI. These little babies can be used to buy a mule, increase inventory space, reset your stats and skills. and perhaps even change your character’s name if you feel your character is getting a bit old. The buy rate is about £1.00 per wish (that’s one GBP pound). Wishes are more for convenience than an ‘essential’ part of the game as they don’t give any unfair advantages like a “200% strength permanent” upgrade for example (hypothetical).

At the time of writing this article, players buy Wishes ingame for about 1 million coins each.

Does it fit the target market well?

Yeah. It’s cheap and you can also buy wishes on your phone, although Paypal is a cheaper option at the moment.

My rating of this game: 9/10.

Why 9 and not 10, you ask? The grinding is simply just a time waster and it slows down my browser a lot (I’m using Firefox, by the way). Everything else is perfect.

If you wanna hook up and play DoH (abbreviation), my name’s ‘BloodyMF’ or ‘Bloody Tank’. I hope you guys enjoyed the article and thanks for reading.
