A new trend I’m thrilled to see popping up everywhere this season is peacocks. I’m seeing them everywhere: fashion, dishes, bedding and other decor. Here are some of my favorite ways to bring this trend into your home.
Have a Trendy Holiday: Snowy white peacock ornaments are a great addition to your holiday tree. Made with real feathers, these regal birds look great against the evergreen of your tree. For a brighter look add some full color peacock ornaments or feathers to your tree - don’t forget to add some additional ornaments to match those vibrant colors to balance out your look.
Add Peacock Inspiration to Your Bedroom: Find inspiration in the rich emeralds, true teals and velvety blacks found in peacock feathers. A few throw pillows, an iridescent duvet cover or jewel toned accessories help update the look of your room. To up the ante, place a few peacock feathers to a cute vase. A metallic vase will really make the colors in the feathers pop.
Peacock Fashion: Lately, I’ve seen a number of graphic tees featuring a stylized and ultra-chic peacock graphic for a more subtle look. For a higher peacock payoff you’re sure to find peacock feather earrings and necklaces at any accessory shop, or go all out ala Nicole Kidman at the 2004 Golden Globes by adding some feathers to a decolletage of a glamorous jewel-toned evening gown.
Set a Regal Table: Peacocks scream glamour and who doesn’t want to set a breathtaking table for an important dinner party? To help you with this task are a number of designers currently putting out lines of peacock inspired dinnerware. Kate Spade, Target and Spode are all offering stylized peacock dinnerware. To pump up the volume of these dinnerwares select a shiny tablecloth in a matching tone for a cohesive look. A centerpiece with peacock feathers completes the look.
