Proverbs 24 :27 states “finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that build your house.” Finish your outdoor work, could be looked at as finishing the little things around like picking up little trash here and there. This could mean like getting rid of little things like anger, impatience, and bad attitudes.
Getting your field ready could be looked at in terms of your heart, mind, and soul for the things that are to come ahead. For people who are considering things like marriage, this could be finishing school, and having a steady and substantial amount of income. Basically this would mean having the foundation set up. Having a strong foundation is a great way for setting yourself up for success, while a weak foundation would be a set up for failure. It’s sort of like when Jesus spoke of the builders in (Matthew 7 24-27), some built on sand, but when storms blew the house fell. When it comes to marriage this could be financial struggles, which many don’t survive, but by God’s grace quite a few have. Jesus also spoke of those who built their house on the rock, which stood through the storm. Somewhat like the saying, “Fail to plan, plan to fail.”
Building the house can be a very rewarding process after you’ve formed a great foundation. Like the song writer says, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” This proverb can be looked at in many different ways. It could be in terms of a career, or even a business. Without a solid foundation in anything you are setting yourself up for failure. God please let me be a man of action in this regard. Let me be an example of building a strong foundation with and in You. Let you be glorified. Grant me wisdom please, and the will to act in
Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
