Edible Flowers or Flowers You Can Eat

Wedding flowers for most brides is a must have item. Flowers make your wedding colorful and add a very romantic touch. What does the bride do if she has allergies to flowers? 90% of flowers that are bought from a florist or grown carry a very strong smell, and reduces a lot of pollen, which causes people to sneeze, have watery eyes, and start itching known as an allergic reaction. What can a bride do to still have flowers at her wedding? There are so many different alternatives to flowers.

The bride can use unique looking plants, waterfalls, floral wax flower arrangements, bouquet made out of feathers, chocolate flowers, tissue paper flower bouquet, sea shell bouquet, or even an origami flower bouquet. This way the bride doesn’t have to worry about having a sneezing attack at her wedding. These flower alternatives are great for the guests as well. You never know if the flowers will affect them unless you ask. Not every bride is going to be able to have time to tract down each guest to find out.

If you are a bride and still insist on having real flowers at your wedding. It’s ok, there are a few flowers that carry a very low percentage of pollen, which should not cause much allergies. These flowers will still add color, style, and beauty to your wedding theme. One great thing about knowing or having a florist designer in your family or as a friend is, they can help you put together other options without having worries with your health. Here are a few wedding flowers that you can use for your wedding that have low pollen.

Spray Roses-These are tiny roses with less than 10 tiny heads on each stem. They come in a huge variety of different colors, have a light scent, and are great for people with allergies.

Hydrangeas- These come in many different varieties, have hardly any smell, and can look quite beautiful at a wedding. The only downfall with these flowers is they may wilt faster than other flowers.

Begonias- These can come single, semi double or double. This evergreen flower is great for people with allergies. You can brighten up a wedding by using Begonias mixed with Baby’s breath, create a Begonia heart arrangement, or use them by themselves. Some colors are pink, yellow, red, orange, white, and a rose color.

Camellias- You can choose from white, red, or pink for the Camellias. They are pollen free with a very slight scent.

This was wonderful! I wish I had known you before I married as I went with a silk arrangement. Camellias are my absolute favorite flowers but I've never been able to find them at a florist. I also adore spray roses and had no idea they were good for people with allergies. Thank you!

Great article! Allergies are something I hadn't really thought about. For some people, allergies are just an annoyance but for others I know they can be very severe. A bride will generally know about allergies in her own family--maybe this should be added to the great cosmic list of things brides should ask their grooms about!

Very good! By the way, Camellias also come in a very soft purple color as well. I can't remember the name, but they are my favorite of them all. There is also a red and white stripe species, they call candy cane or peppermint, depending on who you are taking too. An elderly lady I use to sit for had a yard full of different colors, she loved them. They are beautiful!
