Let’s face it, music isn’t cheap. Whether you are buying it off iTunes for a dollar a song or just buying the album at your local Target or Best Buy odds are it is going to cost a minimum of 10 dollars. While there are ways to get your music for free most often it is frowned upon by most of America. There are musicians who endorse pirating music while a great majority of them do not.
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is one of the few musicians that do endorse “stealing” or pirating music. He was once involved in a debacle when one of Nine Inch Nails albums was exploited and used to make more money that it should have been. His Year Zero album has a thermo-heat sensitive face on the disc that changes its colors when played in a computer or CD player. The cost came directly out of Reznor’s pocket but when it got over to Australia the retailers added on a $10 fee to the album for cost of the thermo-heat CD face. He showed his displeasure and stated that it only cost .83 cents per disc which as I mentioned before came directly out of his pocket.
Free music is wonderful; I think everyone would agree with that. It’s out there but just hard to find. Most of it is obscure and most of you reading this will not have heard of any of it. I am going to help you find some pretty great stuff. I will do my best to expand the genres out there to fit everyone’s styles. All of these links provided are direct downloads from the band. They are not torrents and are not illegal to use; so enjoy them. It was the bands choice to release their music for free; so don’t abuse it. If you have any questions be sure to let me know.
