With the way the economy is today it’s important now more than ever to look for ways to save money. There are a lot of ways this can be done anything from eating more meals at home, to bargain shopping for everyday items to even cheaper entertainment.  When you think about it you might tend to get overwhelmed. The good thing is it does not have to be that way let’s look at the different areas and break it down into each area because when you look at it like that it’s a lot easier to understand and to handle.

First let’s look at eating a lot of people will choose to eat out or to get some kind of take out because it’s easier and this is true but by learning a few easy tips in the kitchen you can eat more meals at home which is a lot better because it’s cheaper and better for you.  I know we all live busy  lives and I’m no expection so what I do is a lot of times I will take one or two days and do a lot of cooking and even cook several things at once then it can be frozen for another meal. One thing that is really easy to do is to make your own homemade TV dinners.  I get these cheap microwave safe containers and when I cook I put all the leftovers into these containers and then put them in the freezer. Another thing that is easy to do is take help from the store no one needs to know that you didn’t cut, chopped, mix it yourself if you look in your store where you get your veggies a lot of times they have veggies pre cut, pre chopped and this saves a lot of time also sauces that are premade are just as good too. So these are a few examples for the kitchen.

Next let’s look at bargain shopping, especially buying clothes and items for kids. I love resale shops and rummage sales, granted I wont just buy everything and anything just for the sake of it but if you look you can find quality items you need for half the price. An example I would like to share in this area is I just recently had our last child she’s a little over a month old, I was looking for a playpen for her and the kind I wanted cost 119 dollars at wal-mart.  My husband found the exact same kind in excellent shape it looked like it had not been used that much, for 15 dollars so that’s quite a huge amount of savings right there.

The next one is entertainment it seems like everyone is looking for something to do.  This can be done cheaply too.  One thing our family does is we will normally wait for a movie to come out on dvd and buy it…with the prices of the movie theaters now a days you can get two or three movies for the price of one.  There are a lot of ways you can make watching movies at home just as fun as going to the theaters. What we do is we plan a movie night about once a week usually on the weekend.  The kids will pick out 2 movies they want to watch then we plan on what kind of snacks and drinks to have.  Then that night after dinner the kids help out and make the snacks then the movie starts…I think we have alot more fun at home because we can be comfortable plus have the kind of food we want to have.  You can always make a party of it too and invite your friends over. Another thing we do is sometimes with movie night we will let the kids invite their friends over and a lot of their friends we are friends with their mom and dads so they come along too and while the kids are watching the movies we will play a game of cards or something like that it usually ends up being a fun filled evening.

The possibilities are endless of course and these are just a few examples to help get you started thinking in ways of doing things to save money that can be just as easy and just as fun if not more so.
