We all want to give our children the best birthday party we possibly can. With times like they are, some of us are unable to give them the most extravagant party. Even though, we can still give them a great birthday party that they will love.
Invitations can actually run into quite a bit of money, but you do not have to purchase these. There are sites online that you are able to get templates that you can copy. You may also want your child to help make invitations. Get a few small decorations and construction paper. This can be a very cost affective way, and it will be fun for the kids to help with.
Pick a location that is free. Your home is a great place, but if you do not want to have it at your home, you may be able to find a local park that has everything you need to set up a party and not pay a dime. If you just have to have a place that charges, be sure to check around on the prices. Do not just pick one place without checking other prices. (Many of these places will have invitations for you to fill out, and will make the need for decorations minimal.)
Make handmade decorations. Buy a cheap party tablecloth, and decorate it. Make confetti with glitter and cut up construction paper. Have your children help with all of this. Buy items from your local dollar store. You can get small toys for a very low price. Then you can put them into small plastic bags for party favors.
The food can also be a big part of your budget, but make your own items. Make sandwiches and use larger cookie cutters to make cute designs. Find a great recipe for home made pizzas. All children love pizza, and it can be made for a fraction of the cost. Make a great home made punch. You can also make your cake at home, but let your child help.
If you are going to purchase items, be sure to check around on prices. You may be able to find much lower prices in different locations for your items. Different stores prices can very dramatically, and you want to find the best price. This is especially true when you are on a tight birthday party budget.
There are ways to have a great birthday party for your child while you are on a budget. I know most kids want the more expensive items, but explain it to them. They usually understand more than we think they do. Have them help with everything. They may be upset about not having some of the things they wanted, but they will love that they are able to help with the process. They will also enjoy telling their friends that they helped make things for the party.
