The premier of Hell’s Kitchen tonight blew me away. I have been a fan of the show since it first started and I have a lot of respect for Gordon Ramsey as a chef extraordinaire. I have always loved to cook and have worked in all facets of the restaurant industry and I would be incredibly intimidated by Gordon Ramsey. He’s brash, in your face, tells you exactly how it is and not afraid to boot your butt out of the kitchen, in not so nice a fashion, if you are messing up.
I think I was more amazed tonight by the two pissed off monkey’s that obviously need anger management classes in a bad way. How stupid do you have to be to get in the face of the man that can control your destiny and a million dollars to boot. Not only that but I wonder how a couple of the other got on the show. They are complete ding bat Jenny Lee’s. I have an idea who’s not going to make it. But I’ll hold my penny on that thought for a couple of more episodes.
For those of you out there who have worked in a kitchen you are very well aware how the pressure can build and tempers begin to overflow. Being in a kitchen is not easy and you have to be able to multi-task, present impeccable food, and apologize when you are wrong. Making enemies of your co-workers is never, ever, EVER a good idea. More so if you work in a high stress environment like a kitchen.
One thing that really blew me away, I can’t recall his name, was his behavior in the dining room in front of the customers. It was beyond unprofessional. He yelled at one of the other chef want-to-bes right in front of everyone and I think that’s where him and the head waiter got into it. I was right in the middle of cooking and only caught bits and pieces. I would have loved to have just sat down and watched but I was in the middle of this really complicated dish that required attention.
Still, by the end of the show I could see some fatal errors that were made. I’m looking forward to this season. I’d like to hear from other fans of the show who they think will and won’t make it, feel free to leave your comments, it should get interesting, it always is.
