A fun way to get all your friends together during the holidays with everyone’s busy schedules is to host a cookie exchange. The purpose of such a get together is two-fold: You get to meet up and mingle with all your friends during a bustling time of year AND you get to have a variety of cookies for other holiday entertainment.
Here’s how it works:
Invite 10 to 15 people.
Have each person bring 2 dozen cookies, made with their favorite recipe.
Have a table set up to display the goods.
Hand out festive holiday boxes or inexpensive holiday platters.
Everyone take half a dozen of each of their favorite 6 kinds of cookie (or whatever the math works out to be). This way everyone walks away with a variety of a few dozen cookies that they can serve to guests who might pop by during the season, or just enjoy with their family.
The best thing about hosting a party like this is that it can be a relatively inexpensive affair. Plan it on a weeknight after work and serve light snacks, eggnog, hot buttered rum, and, of course, let everyone snack on at least a few cookies. Plus you can pick up cute holiday tins or plastic holiday serving plates/platters at any local dollar or discount store.
End result? You get to catch up with friends during a busy season when it’s hard to pin everyone down AND everyone walks away with a festive assortment of holiday cookies, when they only had to bake one kind.
