In everything there is a blessing. Everything? Yes, everything. Though it may not seem like it at the time, especially if your experience is not what you had hoped for or would label as “good”, in time the blessing in that experience will be made known. Sometimes we have to look a little harder or even ask to be shown.
It begins with seeing your experience as temporary. Many think in terms of a “bad” event as being a “lesson” of some sort, when in fact perhaps it should be thought of as a gift. One might ask how horrors like abuse, death or significant losses can be thought of as a “gift.” While you are in the midst of experiencing horrific events, it is rarely possible to think of it as a gift. Still one’s attitude and intention to shift from “victim” or self-pity to one of recognition that the event is in your life for a reason.
All things happen for a reason. Even the most terrible of situations have been brought into your experience for a greater good. That good may not manifest for sometime but inevitably something profound occurs as a result of that experience.
It is fine to ask the God of your being to reveal the blessing. In the midst of a difficult situation we can first claim the event as “good”. Even if it does not feel that way. The terms “good” and “bad” are something we as a consciousness have developed, and is purely opinion. The onset of a pregnancy, for instance may be seen as good to one person and not good to another depending on their unique situations. If we are to recognize that all things come from Source and have a purpose for existing, then we can only conclude they are “good.” Claiming your event or incident as good, shifts your consciousness and opens you to receiving the blessing.
If claim that “this too is good” we can then claim that “this too is God.” As an omnipresent being, God is in everything. The Creator of all that is will not hurt the one’s It loves. It will allow experiences for a higher purpose. In claiming the situation as good and God, we can then claim it as ours. “This too is for me.” It has been made manifest in your life and by accepting it as a gift from God, we can then begin looking for the blessing.
The blessing is not always easy to see, or understand. Sometimes the blessing is what our situation shows someone else. Even then, it becomes a blessing to us because we were able to be the teacher of another. There is nothing wronging in “demanding to know the blessing.” God is more than willing to reveal the Truth if we want to see it. We must, however, be open to understanding that a “blessing” is not about the heavens opening and a pile of wealth being dropped on our heads. Blessings come in all shapes and sizes.
Living in gratitude for all you have and blessings seen and unseen prepares you for recognizing the many different blessings that surround us on a daily basis, even in the most difficult of times. Holding an expectation that blessings will be revealed is a wonderful way to begin to recognize all the blessings that occur in you life. Create a gratitude journal and list on daily basis all that you are thankful for in your life. In time, you will see more and more the many ways in which you are continuously blessed.
