Choosing a nailpolish can be incredibly difficult, and with all the colors out there it may get confusing to know which ones will look good on you and are good for the season. Here are a few tips:
Hue = the temperature of a color: ex- pale pink and hot pink are different hues of regular pink. When you pick a color, find the hue that best matches your skin tone.
- For fair skin tones= Champagne colors are perfect for winter and your skin tone. Nudes also are a great option.
- For medium skin tones= always go for berry- colored jewel tones, they will compliment your skin. Chocolates are great, too.
- For dark skin tones= jewel tones are beautiful on dark skin, and are always perfect for the fall- winter seasons.
The biggest thing for choosing a great nail polish is to find a hue that is complimentary to your skin color. One color will not look good on everyone! Also remember this when you are picking an eyeshadow.
Shimmery colors are great for the holiday season, and look great on all skin tones! If your favorite nail polish isn’t shimmery, I have found that layering a sheer shimmery nail polish of the same (or close!) color gives your nails a pretty look. And it’s much easier than finding a new color from scratch!
You have to remember that when picking a nail polish color that what is in the bottle is not what always comes out, so if the color is not what you wanted, but looks good in the bottle, then bring the bottle with you when you go shopping again and compare the bottle with other bottles of similar color. Remember to read the color label as well, as some colors do not look sheer but it might say sheer on the bottle. You do not want to get home and find that you bought a sheer nail polish when you wanted a solid color.
If you remember all these simple tips, shopping for a nailpolish can be lots of fun. Remember, it’s not so much color as it is hue. Happy shopping, and Happy Holidays!
