There is no need to go out and spend money on expensive cleaning products. Most people have baking soda, vinegar, salt, ammonia, and cleanser on hand. These items are pretty much all you need to keep your home clean. Sometimes we need solutions to more bothersome cleaning products. This article will help you out some of those.
Stained Mugs
Have you ever had a stain that was difficult to remove coffee or tea stain inside your light colored mugs?
If the stain is not coming out while washing the mug normally, get a wet wash cloth. Sprinkle some salt on it and rub the stained area with the salt, then wash as usual. The stain should come right off.
You can also try baking soda doing it the exact same way.
If the salt and baking soda do not work try Comet Cleanser with bleach. That is not the natural method but it usually works really well.
My Pie Runneth Over
If you are baking a pie and the fruit filling happens to boil over sprinkle the area with salt. Let it sit until it becomes crisp and the oven has cooled, then lift off with a spatula.
Help I Can’t Get the Burned Food Off of My Stove!
So your pot boiled over and the food got cooked on the stove top and you are having trouble getting it off simply mix 1 tablespoon of cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of salt and sprinkle it on the burn. Wipe immediately with a wet cloth. The burnt food should come right off, and it will smell really nice too.

So you have been on the internet looking for a cleaning solution and the article tells you to make a paste out of baking soda and water. But just what does that mean. What they mean is that you should add just enough water to the baking soda to give it some consistency; the paste should not be watery or drip. If it is you have added to much water. No big deal though, just adds a little more baking soda.
I Need to Clean the Inside of My Oven But I Can Not Tolerate that Oven Cleaner Smell
You don’t have to stick your head in an oven full of cleaner that makes you choke. Simply leave 1 cup (glass) in a closed cold over overnight. Then in the morning remove the ammonia and wipe away the ammonia from the oven walls, then wipe the surface with a wet cloth sprinkled with baking soda.
My Drain is Clogged Help!
We have all read the advice of unclogging a drain using baking soda followed by vinegar. I have tried this and it really does not work that great but through trial and error I learned the best way to do it.
Boil a tea kettle full of water. Pour ½ cup of baking soda in to the clogged drain, then pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain. Wait a couple of minutes. Remove the Tea kettle from the stove and carefully remove the lid. Add a generous tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent in to the teakettle. The detergent should be a detergent with a grease fighter in it such as Dawn. Swish the teakettle around a couple of times to mix the hot water with the detergent. Replace the teakettle lid (carefully), and pour the water down the drain. If any of the steps need repeating this is the one you should repeat.
Not only will you hopefully unplugged your drain but you have also halfway washed your teakettle.
If you don’t have a teakettle just boil water in a medium sized sauce pan, and stir the detergent in, be very careful when pouring, if it splashes you could get burned.
My Toilet Needs Cleaned and Deodorized But I Hate Using Chemicals.
No need for chemicals. Pour one cup of vinegar in to the toilet bowl. Allow the vinegar to sit in there for 30 minutes. After it has sat for 30 minutes add ½ cup of baking soda to the bowl. Scrub with your toilet brush to remove stains and flush.
