This DivX Windows tutorial shows you how to convert files from divx to svcd from your hard drive. Converting files enables you to make them more compatible with your system. You will need to have the DivX codec installed.
1. Download and install the following free software applications from their home pages:
*VCDEasy (www.vcdeasy.org)
*DVD2SVCD (www.dvd2svcd.org)
*Cinema Craft Encoder (www.doom9.net)
2. Begin the conversion process by opening the DVD2SVCD application. Click on the Encoder tab and then browse your hard drive for Cinema Craft Encoder. The file name is “cctsp.exe”
3. Click on the Misc tab and then select the input file. Select AVI (AVI is interchangeable with DivX). Next, click on Default Output folder.
4. Click on the Conversion tab and then load the AVI file. The program will indicate its length and you will need to select an aspect ratio.
5. Click on the Finalize tab after configuring all of your desired settings. After that, click the Encoder tab and make sure the Cinema Craft Encoder is selected.
6. Click on the Conversion tab again and select the Go button. After that, select Start Conversion and click OK to confirm.
7. Wait for the conversion process to complete. This may take several hours. Test your SVCD file with a VCD player like WinDVD.
Burn the SVCD File to a CD.
After you have tested your converted video, you can burn the SVCD file to a CD using the VCDEasy application.
1. Open VCDEasy and click on the Settings button. Select the DCRDAO tab.
Quick Tip: If your burner is not found, you have to install an ASPI Layer like Force ASPI on your computer.
2. Locate your CD writer and set the write speed. If your CD writer is not on the list, select generic-mmc. You can change the other settings if you wish.
3. Click on the Chapters tab, if you want to add chapters to your SVCD, and select Create 10 equidistant chapters. Click the OK button to confirm your decision.
4. Click the Tools icon if you want to include Change CD pictures. Next, select the MPEG Stills tab. Load your image file and select MPEG Still type as SVCD. Select NTSC or PAL and click the Generate button.
5. Begin burning your CD by clicking on the Go button. When the burning is complete, close VCDEeasy and label your CD. Test your newly recorded VCD on a DVD player.
