You can easily convert a VOB file extension to DivX file format using a utility called Gui4ffmpeg. Gui4ffmpeg is designed with a graphic user interface that enables you to handle encoding with ffmpeg. This tutorial will show you how to convert VOB files to DivX format using this utility.

VOB vs. DivX

A Video Object, or VOB, file is a container file format used for DVD videos. It can contain the video, audio, menu, and subtitles in stream form. DivX is a format that has become popular because of the ability to compress large video files into small size while maintaining high quality. This tutorial will show you how to convert VOB files to DivX.

How to Convert File Format from VOB to DivX

1. Download and install gui4ffmpeg. This is a program that is available free of charge, and is available . You can download it from this link http://www.digital-digest.com/software/gui4ffmpeg.html.

2. Load the VOB file that you wish to convert. This can be done by clicking on the Open File button. Next, click on the option labeled mpeg4, which is located in the Target list box.

3. Now, select a format. You can either choose PAL or NTSC. This format will depend on the type of DVD you are trying to convert. Most American DVDs will be on NTSC format. DVDs from Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world is usually encoded in PAL format. Select PAL or NTSC from the Format section.

4. Go to the Aspect section once you have selected your format. Select the aspect ratio of the video source. With the aspect ration selected, you have the option of changing the bit rate, width, and height, of the video you wish to convert. You can also change the audio bit rate.

5. Enter the correct video and audio stream to continue. Next, select the output destination. This can be done by clicking the Save file button. After doing that, all you have to do is select the folder you wish to save your converted file to.

6. Select an output destination, and click the Generate button. After doing that, the ffmpeg command will be displayed on your screen.

9. Look in the Enter more options field to see that the “vtag” is displayed with the value “xvid.” You will need to change this to “divx.”

10. After doing that, press the Encode button. After the converting, you can close the program and retrieve your file.
