Installing a dishwasher is a rather straightforward home improvement project. After you purchase your new dishwasher there are two options. You can install it in the same place as the old one, or in the case of a new installation, you must create a space near your sink plumbing.
The costs associated with installing a dishwasher are not very high. Most likely the installation hardware is included. However, there will be some plumbing essentials to pick up.
Replacing Dishwasher
If you are replacing an older dishwasher, chances are everything is already there that you will need. You may need to replace some of the fittings and PVC pipes, but for the most part, it is a straightforward installation requiring little in investment besides the new dishwasher.
New Installation
A new installation will require a few more cost considerations, but again, not a large investment. You will need to purchase;
- Electrical junction box
- PVC pipes and elbows
- Fittings for joining dishwasher with water supply lines and drains
- Trim for finish pieces
A new installation consists of removing some cabinetry near the sink and sliding the new dishwasher in after electrical and plumbing connections have been made. The cost is minimal.
