How to go on a cost-effective date

You don’t have to spend a ton of money to go out on a date and have a good time. Dinner and a movie is no longer an option for every date that one goes out on because it has gotten to be very expensive lately. Save dinner and a movie for only special occasions or when you have extra money. Instead of going out to eat, stay at home and cook your significant other dinner. They will appreciate your effort. Instead of going out to see a movie, either rent a movie or subscribe to Netflix and you can get continuous movies at a good price, without having to go to the store.

Plan a picnic when it’s nice weather. Choose a nice place outdoors where you can sit in nature. You may want to pick a park that has benches, tables and grills or fire pits to cook on. If you don’t want to eat anything on your outing, go to a park to walk around and look at the natural beauty, while getting some exercise.

Go to a museum that is inexpensive or free. You can go to an art gallery or a scientific museum. You could go to the zoo for a fairly good price.

You could also call some friends and have a get together at someone’s house and play games together. You could play card games or board games or even a game that is played on the television with a DVD and the remote. Games are very fun and can help you get to know others very well.

If there are any waterfalls or any other type of natural wonders in your area, like caves or hot springs, you could take a date there to check it out. This would probably not make a good first date though.

Instead of going out to eat for dinner, try breakfast or lunch. Breakfast and lunch tend to always cost less than dinner at many restaurants. Offer to take your significant other during the middle of the day or early in the day and you can eat for less and you can even catch a matinee, which costs less too.

Go on a treasure hunt together outdoors. Also, you could play a sport or game with the person outside. Try things like volleyball, putt-putt golf, swimming and touch football. Bowling is another good idea that is usually inexpensive and you can even grab some food at most bowling alleys. Go out for a game of pool at a pool hall.

There are so many different things you can do, the opportunities are endless. Many people get caught up in the same old dinner and a movie date idea because that is the classic idea and that is what consumerism promotes, to spend more money on something that you don’t necessarily need to spend a lot on.
