Foods To Serve Kids At A Birthday Party
Are you bored of the same-old style parties, or just want to spice things up with a fun new theme? A movie themed party is fun, and there are a ton of ideas. Here are a few to help you get the ball rolling, whether it’s for the Oscars or any regular time of the year.
- Serve popcorn. Rent an old fashioned popcorn machine, or break out your popper and try a few of these recipes. You can do microwaved bags, but why would you, when there are so many fun, classy ways to serve an old favorite? You can even order the traditional cardboard boxes online, so party-goers can carry theirs around with them.
- Decorate using personalized stars. Using a stencil, cut out stars and write the names of your guests on each one. Draw a funny picture of them if you’re artistic, paste on a photo, or write a funny personal message. Your guests will love walking through your home, looking at and reading your own little walk of fame.
- Have guests arrive dressed up. Invite them to dress as a celebrity, or as them if they were a celebrity. Sometimes it’s tough for people with costume parties - they have to go out of their way to put together a costume. This is why I like to be relaxed with the theme of costumes, letting people decide for themselves what spirit they would like to arrive in. However, offering up gift certificates to a local movie theater, or tickets to a premiere for the best costume is a good incentive to fuel the fire.
- Bring out the red carpet. You don’t have to purchase anything expensive. Even a piece of fabric will do - people will get the point, and it will set the tone for the evening as soon as guests arrive.
- Play a movie. Even having an old classic, like Gone With The Wind, on the in the background will set the mood. Or, have everyone sit down to enjoy a flick you’ve all been dying to catch.
- Make up fake Oscar awards that are applicable to your friends. Have them nominate each other, and throw and awards ceremony. Have the winners go up and make a heartfelt thank you speech.
- Drink champagne and have everyone making wild, elaborate, over-the-top Hollywood toasts all through the night. Champagne is a no-brainer.
With these ideas to get the ball rolling, you’re guaranteed to have a one-of-a-kind night where you laugh your head off, and your guests go home exclaiming about how glad they were they went.
