Here are some tips on how to leave a party early without being rude:

  • When you go to a party and know that you won’t be there for that long, find the host or the friend that’s holding the party and let them know that you won’t be able to stay long
  • Don’t feel guilty that you can’t stay for long. You were a friend and you showed up even though you had things to do that day or the next day
  • If the friend or host that’s having the party is making you feel guilty you should say politely “I was a friend and showed up even though I had things to do”
  • If they continue to make you feel guilty, question thier motives on doing so
  • But all in all, don’t feel guilty or bad about leaving early. That person has to understand that you had thier back and you showed up.
  • Another one is ” I have so much to do, but I’ll stay for a bit”
  • In my experience people don’t generally think of ways to question other people and may not think of your leaving early as offensive
  • Maybe you don’t want to offend this person
  • If you’re not comfortable saying it to the host when you get there, maybe when you feel compelled to leave, say something like ” Well, I’m gonna head out”
  • When they respond with the typical “why”, Oh c’mon stay a little longer” say something like “I have alot to do, some things I have to take care of”, after all you’re not lying, you have to take care of leaving, and to you that might be alot
  • Don’t act. And don’t fake. Some examples of this are pretending to yawn alot or being tired or boldly lying. Most people can tell when another person in not being truthful and you will be more respected by giving a polite answer such as “No I’m gonna go, but thanks for having me”
  • Just remember, this is your life, don’t be afraid to speak your mind and don’t let other people push you around. But definately be polite
  • Don’t feel bad about leaving early, I highly doubt the next day everyone will be focused on how you left early
