Crystal Elixirs 101: Types of crystals you can use

Since each particular type of crystal contains its own unique composition, which can be useful in many areas, one of these areas is in the art of bathing. Crystal bathing offers us various useful and beneficial energies that we can soak up while we relax in a nice tub of crystal energy filled water. While partaking in a crystal bath, the water will also clear and revitalize the crystals that are actually in your bath water.

Crystal bathing offers the wonderful effects of enhancing the vibrations of the crystals with life filled and cleansing water. This aids in strengthening your body’s sensitivity to harmonize and connect with your higher awareness. Crystal bathing opens an avenue to attuning yourself with and communing with the crystals you are working with in a crystal bath. However, you cannot safely bathe with just any crystal; you must use only those crystals that are safe to bathing. Crystals that are safe for bathing will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized, since they offer a substantial difference in the quality of your baths.

An equal combination of baking soda, Epsom salt and sea salt may be added safely to most crystal baths, if you wish to take a ten minute long soak in the tub to relax. More often a small measurement of the ingredients listed above is much more safe for your crystals, rather than to use only sea salt. You might also like to experiment with various safe for bathing essential oils, floral essences or even a cup or two of very strong herb tea.

Placing a bathing safe crystal in your favorite bubble bath, shampoo, bath salts, and shower gel and so on can also be useful in charging your personal bathing items with magnificent crystal healing properties and vibrations. Crystal bathing also provides an excellent opportunity to experiment and experience the healing properties of color by adding a drop or two of food coloring into your bath water if you wish.

Crystals safe for bathing may be included directly into your bath water, held in your hand under running water while you transmit the crystals energy into the bath or if you feel a bit more industrious, you may make your own infusions of crystal essences or elixirs. To make your own crystal elixirs, simply charge the water with the crystal energy that best fits your needs.

You can make crystal water by storing your chosen crystal in a container of water for a certain amount of time depending upon your intention, and then add to your bath water. You can make crystal elixirs by charging water with the crystals of your choice in moonlight or sunlight. You can then make crystal essences, by diluting any particular crystal elixir before its use. It is the vibration of the crystal, you are including by infusion in your bath water. Crystal elixirs are also useful in spray bottles when clearing and cleansing an aura or any room.

When working with a crystal bath, you may want to use some type of container that is safe to use in the tub for keeping your smaller crystals from washing out with the bath water. Never use a glass container while crystal bathing, just to stay on the safe side. You might also use a cloth bag to contain your crystals or keep them from chipping while in the tub. Large seashells such as abalone make naturally wonderful containers for crystal bathing. Small bowls made of marble and other various safe for bathing crystals are nice, but can be expensive. When on a budget, you might consider a small sponge with a slit cut into its side to nestle your crystals in safely or perhaps the use of a plastic kitchen strainer and even that sand sieve that came in the children‘s beachside toy set.

Agate, amethyst, aventurine, bloodstone, carnelian, citrine, garnet, jasper, clear, rose and smoky quartz, onyx, opal and tiger’s eye are beneficial and safe for bathing.  Anytime you consider making your own crystal bath infusions, please make sure you do your own research before you use just any crystal for bathing purposes as there are some which can be harmful or water can damage the crystal you choose. Otherwise, enjoy your simple relaxing pleasures of immersing yourself in a cleansing, healing and soothing tub of crystal water.

Some crystals are toxic and are not useful for Crystal Elixirs for consumption or bathing, such as Amazonite and Azurite because of their traces of copper, Hematite does rust and Lapis Lazuli has pyrite inclusions, which are poisonous. You should always do your research into various crystals before making elixirs from them, to make sure that they are safe for drinking and bathing. Never use a crystal for an elixir if you know it is toxic or if you are unsure. It is best to choose another crystal that you know is safe for your use, when you are unsure of the composition of the crystals you use.

A good rule to keep in mind is to be wary of blue and green crystals, since their coloring comes from their copper content, as well as any crystal that contains metals. Last but surely, not least, when you know you have crystals that are toxic, always keep them away from small children or animals that may place them in their mouths.
