We make smoothie after smoothie in our house - our freezer is always stocked with frozen fruit! However, when we see other smoothie recipes out there, often times they have you add into the mix. Some recipes even suggest up to 1 cup of sugar! Fruit naturally has sugar in it - the good kind - and you shouldn’t need to add even a pinch of sugar to make a tasty smoothie.
Strawberry Smoothie
- Handful of frozen strawberries
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 banana
- Orange Juice, as needed
- 1-2 tsp of peanut butter (smooth, not chunky! Leave out if allergic)
- 1 scoop of protein powder, optional
Add ingredients to the blender. Start with a little bit of juice and add more as needed. Too little, and your smoothie will be thick. Too much, and your smoothie will be more juice than smoothie. So watch the consistency of the smoothie as you go. Start the blender on low to get it initially blended and check to see if you need to add more juice, and then crank the blender up to high at the end.
Enjoy! Play around with other options - frozen peaches, fresh blueberries, apple juice instead of orange juice.
I guarantee you’ll find this an easy way to make a healthy snack with ingredients that are easy to keep on hand!
