Not everyone is willing to eat mountains of fresh vegetables and fruits, so for these people a better and more enjoyable alternative is to extract juice from these veggies and fruits and drink it in the cool comfort of one’s home. During summer months, a glass of vegetable and fruit juice combination is the best thirst quencher…

It is a well-known fact that a diet rich in fruits and vegetablles is our best bet for a healthy living. It is however hard to get the recommended portions everyday because of our busy schedules where we need to make compromises on our daily meals. It is a good idea to enjoy the goodness of both vegetables and fruits by  mixing them and making juice at home..

Juice blends made from raw vegetables and fruits are delicious and contain valuable vitamins, minerals and enzymes. And since fresh vegetables and fruits have high water content, it is very easy for the body to absorb it. If one is particular about taste and for some reason not too fond of raw vegetables, the required vegetables can be steamed and then cooled and added with the fruits to extract juice. this tastes equally good…

It is important that the juice is freshly prepared, and consumed soon after it is extracted. Fresh juice is tastier, as some minerals and enzymes start deteriorating soon after the juice is extracted and gets exposed to the atmosphere.

One has to take care in choosing vegetables and fruits that are in season and are fully mature, to get all the goodness out of them.

It is a good idea to try to mix the different kinds–some vegetables contain more bulk, or fibre, and some contain more juice. The denser the vegetable, the less the juice it will yield.  So it is a good idea to combine the two.

It is better not to add too many kinds of fruits and vegetables together.  It is best to limit your blend to 3-5 varieties of different vegetables and 2-3 varieties of fruits.

It is also best to limit yourself to 16 ounces of pure juice each week. More than that can cause some sensitive health problems like hypoglycaemia and diabetes.

Vegetables need to be washed and scrubbed well, and rough and damaged skin and any spots should be removed .

Try not to filter the juice so that you get all the fibres as you drink the vegetable/fruit  juice.

Hello..Kiran...have you herd of Jack Lalain. He is a very famous juicer. He invented a machine to use all of the juice(with no waist), and has many recipes. I've always wanted one. I purchased a cheaper version years ago, and I still have it today. Great article. TY
