Thoughts are things. If we begin to understand that we are co-creators of our own reality and the world we perceive is the one we have brought into our realm of existence, we are taking the first and more important step in manifesting our deepest desires. You can bring your dreams into your life and make them your reality.
To begin, one must wrap themselves around the truth of Unity Founder Charles Fillmore: “Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind.” In other words, as you think and believe so shall it be. The Law of Attraction, What the Bleep Do We Know and The Secret are the most recent bits of “proof” we have that show us this is true. If we believe in and speak of lack of limitation in our lives, that is what shows up, however; if we focus on prosperity and having all we need in this now moment, that is what becomes a part of our lives. So how do we get the good stuff to show up?
Believe you deserve it
One of the biggest obstacles to holding on to positive thought and desires is our belief that we probably won’t get what we want, we have not been good enough to receive our desire and or we simply do not deserve to have what we desire. A first step in changing that thought is to consider that the word “desire” means “of the father”. While I am not assigning a gender to the Creator of all, it seems that it is quite possible that “desire” shows up as a result of Divine intervention. As children of the One Source of all life why would our Creator not want us to have good things? We are deserving and positive self talk about that is an important step. Self statements such as; “I am good enough.” “I deserve all things that are good”, “ I deserve to have (insert desire here)” , and “ I am a beloved child of God, therefore I inherit all that is good,” can and should be repeated multiple times a day to ensure that you begin to believe that you are worthy of all that you desire.
Affirm it is so.
Begin to affirm that your desire already exists in your life. Affirmations are a wonderful way to change our thinking and as with the positive self talk by repeating our affirmations several times a day, we begin to believe it is real. Within the affirmation we also begin to “see” our desire as already manifest in our lives. Seeing it as done, accomplished, or already a part of our world is the completion our minds’ need to alleviate doubt. If we look at the Christian Avatar Jesus we see numerous teachings that tell us God knows before we ask what we need and desire. Even in the Prayers of Jesus he states often that he knows his prayer has already been answered. This is an affirmation. If better finances is your desire, statements such as “I have more than enough money to pay my bills this month,” will manifest in extra money after writing that last check.
Be specific.
Often we know we want change in our life but are not clear on exactly what. Sit down with a pen a paper and get clear on what you desire. Write down all the details. If you would like a new or different job write down everything you can think of that would describe what you want to do, down to details about the commute time, what the office looks like and who works with you. Detail exactly who much money you want to earn and what benefits the job will offer. Name your title at new job and what your work hours will look like. Get very clear, and then add “This or something better!” The God of our beings will respond and perhaps have something even better in mind! If you desire to make 70,000 dollars a year would you turn down a 100,000 dollar offer!?
A personal example is the purchase of my first home as a single mother. I knew what I could afford and what I wanted. I detailed my desire for a three bedroom townhouse in a certain area for 50,000 dollars. I even set a date of March 19 as the day I would sign a purchase and sale agreement. I soon found several in my price range, one a bit lower, but delayed making an offer and lost out. Soon after another condo came up, exactly the same for 52,000 dollars. I make my offer of 52,000 believing that I needed to do this to get the place. After the inspection a few minor flaws were noted and I stated I wanted them fixed before the sale. The counter offer came back: I could have the place for 50,000 and fix the flaws myself. I had exactly what I had written down at the exact price! Oh and if you have not guessed, as I sat to sign the purchase and sale agreement I asked the Real Estate Agent what the date was: Yes, March 19!
Do not be afraid to be specific!
Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude!
Within your affirmations, besides affirming “this or something better” we need to give gratitude to the Universe. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way and helps us to see the things we do have and recognize it all as good. Even in those things we may label as “bad” in our lives there is ultimately blessing. We are not often able to see that blessing when we are in the midst of our challenge, but later we are able to see that perhaps we learned some valuable lesson or gained something unexpected from the situation. Our elder brother and way-shower Jesus always gave thanks before he affirmed that which was desired. To thank the God of our being for guiding us and providing for us helps us to recognize that we are deserving of all we desire and have already received good in our lives.
Treasure map it
One final way to help bring forward your deepest desires and help you to see it as done is to have something physically present to look at. Whatever you have written down should be a part of this process. Placing it somewhere you can see it often and reading through it helps. Also consider taking some construction paper or a poster board and creating a picture/word map of what you are bringing forward into your life. This can include several desires. Sections of the poster board might be devoted to finances, love, travel, and job. Cut out pictures and words from magazines that represent that which you desire and paste them to the board. It is important again to then place your treasure map in a location where you will see it often. Another example of how this works is my friend’s desire to go to Hawaii. She cut out a random picture of Hawaii and put it on her bathroom mirror. She looked at it every day and affirmed she would soon go to Hawaii. When the opportunity arrived, quite by chance, she jumped at it, knowing her dream would be realized. Interestingly, a day or two after her arrival she was having lunch at a restaurant and looked out the window next to the table she had been seated at. She tells me her mouth hit the floor. She recognized the view; it was the exact scene in the picture still hanging on her bathroom mirror.
It is possible to manifest your deepest desires. Believe and open yourself to receive.
