Facts about Precious Metals, Gemstones and Jewelry Types

When you have various pieces of jewelry you will want to keep it safe and secure as well as organized. There are many different ways to organize your jewelry. Of course determining how to organize your jewelry will also depend upon your budget as to exactly where you will store your jewelry. For instance, there are various types of jewelry boxes with a lock and key or without a lock and key.

There many types of jewelry organizers that you may choose to use to store and organize your jewelry. By looking around you may find that you wish to store some of your jewelry in soft jewelry pouches. Alternatively, you may decide that you would like to store your fine jewelry in a jewelry safe, or perhaps in a safety deposit box at the bank where you do business.

- Storing and Organizing Pearl Jewelry

Pearls are by nature very delicate and fragile. They are especially subject to scraps and scratches, especially when stored with hard precious metals or the hard sharp edges of gemstones. Actually, pearls should be stored by themselves to prevent them from becoming damaged by other pieces of jewelry.

You can buy jewelry pouches especially made for storing delicate pearls. Make sure that you get enough jewelry pouches to store all your pearls since they really should be stored as separate pieces to keep them all looking their very best. At the very least, you should store your pearls in a soft handkerchief or even a soft cloth. Your pearls deserve the best protection you can afford and should never be stored unprotected whether you store them in your jewelry box or in a jewelry organizer.

Remember while storing your precious pearls that you should never store them in direct sunlight or inside plastic unlike some other jewelry types. The reason for this is that pearls need moisture they get from the atmosphere around them in order to stay beautiful and supple in their appearance. If they dry out, they will become brittle and lose their supple luminosity.

- Storing and Organizing Precious Metal Jewelry

When you are storing your gold jewelry pieces, you need to remember that gold is a very soft metal and is only made harder when its alloy formula contains traces of other precious metals. In order to prevent you gold jewelry pieces for becoming scratched or damaged by other types of harder precious metal jewelry pieces or even from gemstones set in various pieces of jewelry, such as diamonds, you should consider protecting them while storing them in a soft protective cloth or in a jewelry pouch.

While storing silver jewelry pieces you should consider storing them in a soft cloth for protection or in a jewelry pouch. If you decide not to use jewelry pouches to store your precious metal jewelry, make sure that you do store your individual pieces in their own compartment in your jewelry box or jewelry organizer.

- Storing and Organizing Different Types of Jewelry Pieces and Types

The manner in which you store and organize your jewelry is simply a personal decision; however, here are a few jewelry-organizing tips that can help you keep your jewelry looking in top shape and brilliant.

Some individuals choose to organize their jewelry by the type of gemstones or precious metal of a particular type of jewelry piece. Others may organize their jewelry by its season and still others will store their jewelry by type.

For instance, you can store your rings in a compartment of your jewelry box, on ring trees and in delicate fabric covered boxes. You may want to hang your earrings on an earring tree or organize them safely in a compartment of your jewelry box. While organizing your jewelry, you may want to hang your bracelets of lay them flat in one of your jewelry organizers compartments.

While learning how to organize your jewelry, you will always want to hang your necklaces. Remember, when you are dealing with necklaces or bracelets that are made of chain you should hang them or store them separately in order to keep them from becoming tangled around each other and into knots while in storage.

Regardless of the type of jewelry pieces, you may have or collect, you will want to keep them appearing their very best regardless of the type of jewelry box, jewelry organizer or jewelry storing system you prefer.
