We all hate when we see a stain. Depending on the type of stain, we worry whether it will come out or not.
I’ve put together different types of stains and ways to remove them.
Always remember, before treating eating stains, make sure you identify the type of material and check the label. I also always recommend that you spot check for color fastness. Also, remember; do not mix cleaning agents. Combining chloride bleach and ammonia per instance will form a poisonous gas. You want to treat stains quickly and with the correct means.
Types of stains:
Urine: on washable fabrics• You want to soak fresh stains with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.
• If it is an old stain, use one tablespoon ammonia and 1 cup water.
• Follow both treatments with liquid dish soap, you will then blocked and rinse.
Urine: on non-washable fabrics• rinse with water first
• use a small amount of liquid dish soap
• let set for five minutes, then flush with water
• Feather it up and let it dry.
Alcoholic beverages: not beer on washable fabrics
• apply glycerin; let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes
• a small dab of liquid dish soap over the glycerin
• gently rub in a few drops of water
• rinse and let dry
Alcoholic beverages: not beer on non-washable fabrics• apply a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water
• Paula with an oil solvent
• fluff/feather and let dry
Antiperspirant or deodorant: on washable fabrics• use a combination solvent over the stain
• let it sit for 20 minutes
• apply liquid dish soap, and then launder, as usual
Antiperspirant or deodorant: on non-washable fabrics
• rubble on an oil solvent
• let set for a few minutes then repeat
• if it is safe for the fabric used a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water
• then rinse
Ballpoint pen: on washable fabrics• apply glycerin and rub the area
• let set for 20 minutes
• add liquid dish soap, rub, and let set 10 minutes
• add a few drops of water and rub
• keep adding water and rubbing until stain is gone
Ballpoint pen: on non-washable fabrics• apply glycerin directly to the stain, let it sit for 20 minutes
• follow with an oil solvent
• fluff/feather and let dry
Chewing gum: on washable fabrics• apply ice to freeze the gum
• cracked off as much as possible
• apply oil solvent, blot, let dry
• follow with liquid dish soap and rinse
Chewing gum: on non-washable fabrics• follow the procedure for washable fabrics
• use a minimum amount of detergent and water
Coffee or tea: on washable fabrics• flush area with cool water
• apply a combination solvent
• let sit for 15 to 20 minutes
• apply liquid dish soap and washed
Coffee or tea: on non-washable fabrics• use a 50 /50 solution of vinegar and water
• follow with an oil solvent
• fluff/feather and let dry
Combination stains (candle wax, crayon, lipstick, tar, etc.) on washable fabrics
• dab oil solvent into stain
• followed by rubbing in liquid dish soap
• if it is safe for fabric, check the label, use solution of one tablespoon bleach to one quarter cup water
• wash in machine
Combination stains: (candle wax, crayon, lipstick, tar, etc.). On non-washable fabrics
• cover stained with oil solvent, then blocked
• repeat in five minutes
• then apply a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water
• rinse with water, feather, and let dry
Combination stains: (chocolate, makeup, tomato sauces, etc.) on washable fabrics
• gently rubbed in a combination solvent
• let sit for 15 to 20 minutes
• follow with an application of liquid dish soap
• let sit for 15 to 20 minutes
• rinse well, and launder
Combination stains: (chocolate, makeup, tomato sauces, etc.). On non-washable fabrics
• use oil solvent, blocked and repeat
• small amount of liquid dish soap and one to two drops water
• rinse and feather
Dyes: (food stains, grass, soft drinks, tempera paint) on washable fabrics• Apply 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Let sit for five minutes
• small amount, liquid dish soap, rub, let sit for 10 to 15 minutes
• add water, one drop at a time, rub gently
• Rinse… if stain remains, apply & detergent. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse
Dyes: (food stains, grass, soft drinks, tempera paint) on non-washable fabrics
• apply oil solvent directly to stain
• follow with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and blot
• flush area with water and blot
• feather and let dry
• then have item dry-cleaned
Oils: (butter, face cream, grease, etc) on washable fabrics
• blot with an oil solvent
• dab on a laundry pre-soak
• let sit for 15 minutes
• work in liquid dish soap, then launder
Oils: (butter, face cream, grease, etc) on non-washable fabrics• Place oil solvent on stain
• repeat as needed
• on your last application, feather and let dry
These methods will work great for many many different types of stains; just make sure to do a blot test on any fabric before utilizing any method.
