How to spot a shop aholic? First, we need to identify if you are a shopaholic. Let me ask a couple of questions. Matter of fact, go head and get some pencil and paper together. At the end of this exercise, you are going to total your score and find out if you are a shopaholic.

1. Do you have clothes in your closet that have not been worn more than twice?
A. YES B. NO

2. Do you have shoes that do not match any items of clothing in your closet. You tell yourself that you will eventually find something that will match later.
A. YES B. NO

3. Do you shop when you are feeling angry or depressed?
A. YES B. NO

4. Do you buy new makeup, perfume or some other type of accessory item on a weekly basis?
A. YES B. NO

5. Do you lie to friends about the amount of shopping that you do?
A. YES B. NO

6. When you see someone else has something that you don’t, do you feel you must have it?
A. YES B. NO

7. Do you feel that you must be up to date with fashion (other purchases), even if you don’t have the money for it?
A. YES B. NO

Now that you finished the Q and A portion it is time to get your score and find out if you really are a shopaholic.
For each A that you have score 1 point; for B score 0

If you scored between:

0 – 3 You like what you like. No need to worry, you probably won’t gamble the mortgage or pawn the dog to purchase the latest crave.

4 -6 Okay you are not too far gone. With a little prioritizing you won’t cross into the land of the shopaholic. You must start taking conscious decisions about your shopping habits. When you are making purchases take a picture of it with your cell phone. Go home. Take a look at the picture and sleep on it. If you still feel you need the item so bad that you can’t function, then look on line for it, you might be able to get a better deal.

7+ Hey you are grown. At the end of the day all decisions are yours. Would your world change because you could not make some of thosepurchases? Only God can judge you so remember to be true to yourself.

Before we total them here are some bonus questions.

+1 point if you still have price tags on the clothes

+1 if you have more than one pair shoes that are the same exact style (even if the same color)

+1 if you feel guilty after shopping

Add to the total the number of questions that you answered A.

That is your grand total. Do you agree with your score? We all have things that we do and everyone may not approve. As long as the behavior does not cause you or loved ones physical or emotional harm, then enjoy your life.
