I have had so many dogs in my life, and one thing I’ve noticed is that many dogs simply can’t stand the soaps that people think they should use for a dog’s bath. I for one think that removing the natural oils that a dog has in its coat is a bad idea.
I currently had a dog that for 11 years has not had a bath! Sounds cruel? Not at all. She has a medium coat and when brushed her hair comes cleaner than you think.
If I were you, I would spread the coat and look for signs of skin problems. If you see flaking, or redness, you could apply some inert oil. Just remember that your best friend is going to be licking the fur so I would use an oil that won’t make it sick. even a cooking oil can work if your dog is indoors and winter heating is drying out the skin.
Another suggestion would be if the skin looks irritated you could go to a health store and purchase a bottle of Colliodal Silver water. This is a little expensive ($12 bucks) but it will kill many forms of fungus, bacterial infections, or viral infection. Actually it is known to kill over 650 known pathogens! And it is ok to use on people. It can clear up internal infections also, such as a stomach virus,,, just don’t go too far from a rest room for two hours after you take it!
One last note! if you put it on your dogs coat, use the eyedropper provided and maybe a cotton ball to spread it around -and warm it up before doing it! Nobody -including your pet likes a cold shower…
Good luck to you and your buddy!
