The Suryanamaskar Asana is having a beautiful meaning; it is to Salute to the Sun; and thus the expression of the feelings of the reverence. It is one of the most important asana. It is for the best humanly use of solar energy for health care. We follow the following steps in it:
POSITION OF READINESS:
We stand up and keep our legs apart at about two feet distance. We allow the hands to hang loosely at near our sides. We keep the head straight. While looking directly in front and breathe normally.
STEPS FOR PRACTICE:
1. We inhale slowly, and raise both hands towards the sky, while in side-wise circular movement. We time it in such a way that by the time our hands come up, we may also complete inhaling. When the hands are up, we turn the palms forward and keep the arms in a parallel position.
2. We start exhaling and lowering the upper area of the body towards the ground. While thus bending forward, we keep both hands parallel to one another and move them towards the ground, in a circular motion in front of you. By the time both hands reach near the floor, we need to finish exhaling.
3. Now, we hold the breath and stay in that position for about six to eight seconds. While holding the breathe, it is important that we keep the upper part of the body (above the waist) quite loose, and the lower part, the waist and the lower regions or the parts, rigid and hard. We bend our head down towards the ground. Our head needs to be between the two arms. We allow the hands hang loosely as far down as they can easily go. If we can bend easily, we put the palms on the floor or just touch it. It is important that we are not staining our self or forcing our body excessively for making this bend. We do it as much as we can, but very comfortably.
4. We bring both hands on the legs, inhale, and come up in the standing position. While coming up, we allow the palms pass over and touch the legs upwards. While inhaling slowly in such a way that by the time we have returned to the standing position, we should have finished inhaling. This completes the one round of the Suryanamaskar asana.
5. We rest for five to six seconds and then repeat the same process. Well, we stay in the condition of readiness, while resting.
