How to Use the Saraca Indica (Ashoka Tree) for Healing and in Ayurveda

The Saraca Indica is also known as the Ashoka Tree in India. When we consider the clinical indications and the appropriate preparations and doses, it is a highly effective herbal, treating numerous symptoms in the following ailments and diseases:

1. Uterine Disorders:  In this, the following clinical indications are present:

a. Excessive blood loss during the menstruation

b. Presence of the uterine fibroid

c. Symptoms of the leucorrhoea (one type of womens’ problems in menstruation)

d. Uterine hemorrhages

e. General female problems related to the uterus

Doses: the bark of the tree is useful for the above clinical indications. We can use about 90 grams of boiled bark in 30 ml of milk and 30 ml of water until the total quantity reduces to about 90 grams. We divide it into 2 or 3 doses and give it in one day. This day needs to be the specific one; the treatment should commence from the fourth day of the menstruation and continue until it checks the bleeding for daily use. 2. Piles:  with this condition, the following clinical indications are present:

a. Presence of the internal piles

b. The presence of the symptoms, which may lead to piles

Doses: the bark of the tree is useful for the above clinical indications of the internal piles. We can use about 90 gram of boiled bark in the 30 ml of milk and the 30 ml of water, boiled down until the total quantity reduces to about 90 grams. We divide it into 2 or 3 doses and give it in one day. We need to take care that we make a fresh dose everyday.

3. Dysentery:  for this, the following clinical indications are present:

a. The general symptoms of dysentery

b. The presence of hemorrhagic dysentery

Doses:  we use the decoction (see above) in this case, and the use of the fluid extract of the flowers is useful. We prepare the extract by grinding the flowers with water, administered in doses of15 to 60 drops.

4. Diabetes:  for this, the following clinical indications are present:

a. The symptoms of diabetes

b. Weakness due to diabetes

Doses:  the use of the dried flower is one of the best doses, which helps in curing the diabetes. We may be eaten regularly.

5. Scorpion-sting:  for this, the following clinical indications are present:

a. The confirmation of the scorpion-sting

b. The poisoning effect of the scorpion-sting

Doses: The doses are in the form of the bark of the tree, while eating and applying it on the affected areas with other anti-septic herbs.
