The Solanum Xanthocarpum is populary known as the Kantakari in India. It is a wonderful herb. Its clinical indications and the doses are of great importance–it is a highly effective herbal, which provide help in treating the following diseases:
1. Respiratory Disorders: In this, the following clinical indications are present:
a. Presence of the catarrh
b. In many cases the presence of the phlegm
c. Presence of the symptoms of the asthma, bronchitis and cough

2. Stomach Disorders: for this, the following clinical indications are present:
a. Presence of constipation and flatulence
b. The presence of disorderliness in the functions of the digestive systems
c. Presence of worms in the stomach
Doses: We may eat the tender leaves and the fruits, cooked as a vegetable, in addition to using it as a confection, decoction (see link above) or juice, etc.
3. Dropsy: in this, the following clinical indications are present:
a. The presence of excessive collection of fluids in tissues and cavities or the natural hollows of the body
b. Decrease in the secretion of the urine
Doses: We may eat the tender leaves and the fruits, cooked as a vegetable, in addition to using it as a confection, decoction (see link above) or juice, etc., which helps in curing this ailment.
4. Throat Disorders: for this, the following clinical indications are present:
a. The presence of symptoms such as soreness in the throat
b. The presence/inflammation of the tonsils
Doses: The extract of the plant is good when we use it as a gargle. We prepare it by continuously boiling the plant in about 2 liters of water after washing it thoroughly, until it reduces to half of its volume, and then using it after appropriate filtration.
5. Gum Diseases: In it, the following clinical indications are present:
a. Presence of the gum disease
b. Presence of the bacterial infection
Doses: We use the extract of the plant, and for the better results, we boil it together with black mustard. Advice regarding quantity needs consultation from the expert in the herbs as it depends on how severe the symptoms are. However, a small quantity is of good use.
6. Snake/Scorpion Bites: For these, the following clinical indications are present:
a. The confirmation of the snake or the scorpion-bite
b. The confirmation of any other poisonous bite
Doses: In such cases, we use the root of the plant. We may grind the root with lemon juice to make a paste of it, and then we can apply it on the affected and the infected area. However, it is imperative to take the patient to the doctor immediately.
7. Many Other Diseases: In these, the following clinical indications are present:
a. Presence of chest pain and heart disease
b. Presence of certain types of fever
c. Presence of muscular pains
d. Presence of gonorrhea
e. The enlargement of the liver and spleen
f. Presence of stone in the bladder
g. Ailments of sore throat, bronchitis, or muscular pains accompanying the fever
Doses: We can use the herb in the form of confection, decoction or juices. We take the doses of the decoction from 15 ml to 60 ml; while the juice ranges from the 2 ml to 8 ml in most of the cases.
Besides the general doses, the way is using the tender leaves and the vegetables after cooking. Thus, it is of great importance in healing in so many ailments and the diseases.
