Most everyone has someone special that want to show their feelings to on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a spouse or significant other – it could be a special friend at work, the church handyman, or even fellow co-workers. A gift on Valentine’s Day shows that you care that this person is in your life. Not everyone wants candy, and maybe you want to give them more than just a card. Here are some suggestions to help you find that small token to remind someone that they matter to you.
-
Books about your friend or acquaintance’s favorite subject or a clip-on book light for avid readers
-
Small plants, a kneel pad or pair of nice yard gloves for your gardening friends
-
Origami paper or zigzag craft scissors for your arts and crafts buddy
-
A photo montage of you and your friend doing your favorite things
-
Pedometer for those that walk daily
-
Apple slicer for an older person that loves fruit
-
Cookie dough scoop for a friend that bakes
-
Note pad in the shape of their first initial
-
Bag of bird seed for bird lovers
-
TV tray on legs for someone who doesn’t get out much
-
Small back support pillow or fleece lap cover for couch potatoes
-
Flashlight for the neighbor whose dog or cat always seems to gets out at night
Don’t see anything here for someone you want to gift? Need an idea for your yard boy? Maybe a Rock t-shirt or sticker of his fave band would do the trick. How about your mailman that never fails to put your packages close to the door so they don’t get knocked off? Maybe that carrier would like a neck scarf or a pair of winter gloves. Perhaps window decals for the day care worker with a sliding patio door?
As a last resort, there is always the stand-by home made coupon book. Print or write out tickets for things you can do together such as go see a move at their convenience, or share time over a jigsaw puzzle.
Remember, just because you are not dating or married to this person, it doesn’t mean you don’t value them. Think about the people that bring you joy on a regular basis, and go from there. Any token of appreciation is sure to make someone feel special on Valentine’s Day – especially if they are not currently in a relationship.
