The secret to losing weight is no secret, although we hide the truth in our minds so deep that it feels like it resurfaces as a secret. Losing weight is no easy task; take it from me. Mother of four, labored three, and you don’t have to bear a child to gain weight from them. Raising them and the stress involved from all of them is enough to make anyone eat. Losing weight isn’t just about eating better and exercising; it involves emotions also. No one has truly figured out a special trick, or a secret to losing weight. There are many effective pills out there for helping the process; such as metabolism boosters, fiber fillers that drain your bowels, and even scarier things out there that may cause weight loss, but who can put up with a sore tush, an unhealthy body, and even worse the chance of death. The risks are just too high.
Hiding the truth is not a good thing to do. Losing weight should not be the goal, but instead a wonderful side effect of becoming healthy. When accomplished, one should not feel good because of the way they look, but instead of how great they feel. If you begin to live a healthy life, your body will thank you. Your body begins to function correctly; your skin becomes healthier; your hair grows stronger and shines; your nails are clearer and harder; your eyes become clearer and vision improves; your mind becomes clearer; your energy level raises; and, of course, your figure becomes more appealing.
You become able to do more and accomplish higher tasks. The nourishment you gain from all the healthy things you begin to eat clear your mind and help with depression and stress. The muscles you gain help with not only strength, but also energy levels. The more energy you burn during the day, the sounder you sleep at night. The more sleep you get, the better your mind functions. Your entire life revolves around your health.
It is so important to eat healthy and spend time on physical activities. There are no set rules to which activities do the trick, you just need to do the things you love. Take the time to break a sweat. Don’t worry about keeping track of it, just do it. If you have a moment to sit down and watch TV, don’t ; get out there and walk. The sights you’ll see on your walk will be better than TV. Get out in your yard and take care of those gardens or mow the lawn. Eating healthier also challenges your mind strength. You may be hungry at first with all these low-protein foods, such as veggies, whole grains, fruits, seeds, and nuts. You need protein, just not as much as we are all used to. To keep your mind away from hunger, keep it busy by sweating and drinking a lot of water.
It is hard waking up each morning and looking in the mirror without a noticeable change. You have to believe! If you are eating healthier, and sweating, you just need to keep going, don’t give up. On average, if you are eating about 1,700 calories a day and sweating for twenty to thirty minutes you can lose about two pounds a week. That means you can lose about eight pounds a month, and twenty four pounds in three months. Of course, the more strict you are, the more you will lose. The biggest hurdle you will have to jump are your emotions. It is extremely emotional losing weight. Everyone who diets know that food is our best friend. Well . . . it is time to find a new best friend. Your old one has gained weight behind your back. You don’t need a friend who wants you to be unhealthy. You need one that wants to sweat with you.
Grab some of your favorite recipes and turn them into healthy meals. So you like enchiladas . . . well, how about cutting out the oil and baking them? Use some white cheeses and less cheddar. Take advantage of the sauce–it’s naturally healthy–and use white meats. Anything can be made into a healthy alternative. I have converted or made up so many recipes that I actually forgot they were diet food. My children’s favorite dinner night is mini-pizza night. We a build our pizzas together at the table and then stick ‘em in the oven. Use english muffins, and top them with your favorite toppings. The trick is, don’t eat more than three or four. You can use sauce, turkey pepperoni, canadian bacon, pineapple, olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, chicken . . . anything you like, make it your way.
Eating healthy can be fun for everyone. Like I keep saying, it is an emotional hurdle everyone needs to jump. Because if you are not ready, you can’t be forced into it. Like any addiction, you have to make the choice for yourself. You are the only one stopping yourself. It is hard, but so worth the feeling of being healthy. Join me in my journey to becoming healthy!
