A Hmong New Year is a traditional culture Hmong people do every year set out to meet that special someone. At the New Year there is lots of people, food, music, entertainment, movie, contest, and much more. Organizers estimate that nearly 100,000 people attended the festivities. But of course nothing is for free. The Hmong, who have a long history of migration, are natives of China. As targets of discrimination and oppression, Hmong people maintained a strong cultural identity amid pressures to assimilate into Chinese culture. Many Hmong people eventually migrated to Vietnam and Laos, where they inhabited mountainous highland areas and lived peacefully as independent farmers, tending their own land and subsisting on the little their fields produced. All this time the Hmong people kept there traditional and still obtain it every year. The biggest New Year is the Fresno Hmong New Year. The Fresno New Year usually happen for a whole week. The Hmong community celebrated its International New Year between December 26 and January 1st. The Hmong New Year is not a place for how you dress to school, work and etc. It’s a tradition thing where they have their Hmong custom but many will where it and many won’t. The way for you to find that special one is throwing ball at each other. The way for you to find that special someone is tossing ball at each other. The way it work is when you see someone or a group of guys or girls playing together you’ll go up to them and asked if it’s OK for you to throw with them. That’s one way of meeting that special someone or you could just walk around look to see who you like. Yeah that’s another way too. Every year during the Hmong New Year there will also be a Miss Hmong New Year too. To be Miss Hmong New Year you’ll have to compete against thirteen others women or less, depend on how much they want that year. The Miss Hmong New Year contestant will have to give a briefs introduction of themselves, then something they want to do or show, answer questions, and the judge will pick to see who they like most. Now a day most girl/women’s don’t really know who to speak Hmong cause they have adapt to a different language. The winner for Miss Hmong New Year will win it for that year and for the next Hmong New Year everything will be done over again.
