Oprah Winfrey loves hot chocolate, especially Frozen Hot Chocolate, which is served at a fun place in New York known as Serendipity 3. This popular spot is unique because it is part general store and part restaurant. This is also considered to be a coffeehouse where one can just sit around and chat. It has everything you can think of in the way of food, drinks, desserts and fun. If you just want to cool off, you can go to their fountain. Serendipity 3 is located on the Upper East Side in New York.
Serendipity 3 has been a popular place for people of all ages for over 50 years. Children can also enjoy the
General Store filled with toys, candy, and packages of instant mix so that you can make this fantastic Frozen Hot Chocolate at home or give it as a gift. Each package includes everything that a person needs to re-create this wonderful refreshing drink. All you have to do when you get home is to empty the instant mix into a blender, add milk and lots of ice cream, and let everything whirl around until frozen.
Serendipity 3 was founded in 1954 by Stephen Bruce and his two partners, Calvin Holt and Preston “Patch” Caradine. They are known as the three naughty boys. These are the three naughty boys who invented Frozen Hot Chocolate. At one time this was a secret recipe which is an icy-chocolate confection served in a huge fishbowl-shaped goblet. It is garnished with a mound of fresh whipped cream and shredded chocolate. Believe it or not, this creation is made from 14 kinds of chocolate and cocoas grounded together. It’s a rich slush drink!!!!
In the 1960s Serendipity3 became a hangout for Andy Warhol who sketched and drank coffee there daily. Warhol wanted to be comfortable, and this was just the right place for him. As it was said, Andy wanted to feel free enough to do anything he wanted. He would stay for hours and invite friends.

Let’s hear what Oprah has to say about this cool concoction that is being served at Serendipity 3: “I want to dance on the chandeliers!!!!”
After so many years of keeping this recipe a secret, Serendipity 3 finally decided to “let it out of the bag.” So here goes:
Ingredients
6 half ounce pieces of a variety of your favorite chocolates
2 teaspoons of store-bought hot chocolate mix
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups of milk
3 cups of ice
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings
Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water.
Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar. Stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of milk until smooth. Cool to room temperature.
In a blender, place the remaining cup of milk, the room-temperature chocolate mixture and the ice.
Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant
goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
