On the colossal span of humanity, I am but one single grain of sand upon the beach of life. I am like the majority of humanity–I’m just an average person leading an average life. I suspect that I will never be famous nor be known by millions of people; and the reality is that I am content with just being who I am–at least for today. The reality is that each of us only has one moment at a time to live, and our next moment is never guaranteed.
However, I do believe that each one of us has a purpose for being here, but I am not convinced that we always interpret correctly what our purpose may be. I believe the Creators made each of us alike and yet unique, and that their reasons for doing so may not always be so easy to deduce. All of humanity has the same emotions, but not everyone has the same motivations.
A lot of us spend time trying to figure out what we are supposed to be doing. In other words, we search for our purpose in life. Sometimes, I just wish that that purpose could be written down and given to each of us so that we would not have to spend so much time stumbling around, bumping into each other and beating ourselves up trying to figure out what life is all about. Yet if we each knew from the beginning of life what we were here for, would that not conflict with the free will that we were each given? If you feel that you know what reason you are here, then by all means pursue that purpose. I fully believed that my purpose in this life was to be a teacher, but that path was taken from me when I became disabled. Just remember that there are many curves in life, and the ability to see what is coming next is not usually granted to human beings. Yet each of us has been given the ability to continue.
Perhaps we are each given a main purpose, but isn’t it possible that each of us is given smaller reasons for being here? So often, humanity’s ego says that there must be some huge fundamental reason for our existence, and, quite often, we each set out to discover what that reason that we are here, is . Yet, I think we miss so much when we do.
Consider that each day may have a purpose, and the accumulation of each day’s reasons add up over the course of a lifetime! Today’s reason may be something as small as giving a friendly smile and comment of appreciation to the store clerk that’s having a bad day; helping a stranger that’s stranded or visiting a friend or neighbor that needs encouragement. Consider that the purpose might just be in the daily walk of life–one small step at a time, moving forward and helping others around us do the same.
