What is in the Name? Where names come from

Our hand is a kind of life recorder. It gives a step-by-step account of all events occurring in a person’s life, from birth to till date. The lines on our hands change as our destiny can change. The markings on our palm show the link between the intentions of our heart with the reasoning of our mind. Our hands speak of our inner self. Many daily life problems can be solved if we come to know our inner perspectives.

There are two different ways in which a hand can be read: Psychic hand reading and Scientific hand reading. A psychic hand reader may not memorize the meaning of every single line and shape, but for them hand is a point of focus. But a Scientific hand reader knows and remembers the meaning of each marking and line on the hand.

Palmistry is also known as Chiromancy (Greek word “cheir”= hand). It dates back to some fifty centuries ago. The techniques which were used three thousand years ago in Chinese hand reading are still used today. Ancient Greeks were also known to practice Palmistry. It was very conspicuous in their literature. Even in the works of Aristotle (384-322 BC), there are many references made to divination by means of hands. The hand’s superiority over other parts of the body is even shown in the pre-historic carvings and paintings. Coming to the present day, palmistry is practiced extensively in the Asian countries like India, Syria, China and Egypt. But earlier it was believed that Roman people also knew this. They had learnt it from Arab sources. They had brought the art from East to West.

The earliest printed book on Chiromancy or Palmistry as recorded, is written by a German named Martlieb in 1448. Another one was found written by Cocles in 1504. But Palmistry didn’t remain so popular always. Its popularity started declining after a few centuries. In the middle of the nineteenth century two French people came into limelight for their work to restore the consciousness about the art of palmistry. One of them was d’Arpentigny, who was mainly concerned with the shape and form of hands, which is more properly known as Chirognomy. The other person, Desbarolles, was concerned completely with Chiromancy.

When a baby is born, he/she has all the markings mapped on the hands. The hands are the mirror of the soul.  But nothing is fixed. The lines and markings keep on changing with our actions. Actions always bring changes and it can change our life too. In Sanskrit, “Karma” is the word for action. Everything in our life is governed by our Karma. Yes, we are born with a fate. But we have the gift of free will which enables us to have some degree of control over our lives. What would our lives have been if we had  no control over them!

Reading the hands of others is a great responsibility. One must be completely prepared by absorbing all the meanings of markings, lines, shapes, etc., of the hand in the mind. For beginners, it is very difficult to understand and learn everything at once. One should be patient while learning the details. Learning must be done in a systematic way. If all is done in a systematic manner, then everything will become very easy. There are some basic rules to follow. Following these rules, one can be able to read the palm in a convenient manner.

The best time to read hands as the Asians say, is the time around sunrise. They say that at this time the blood is stronger in the extremities. Sometimes, due to low blood pressure, a person’s palm seems to be pale. To focus on a particular section, the palm can be pressed and released at that section so that the blood flows back in the lines and markings. While reading the palm, the palmist and client must sit side-by-side. For a distressed client, do not focus on the negative aspects. Try to encourage them on how to improve the positive aspects. There are many cases when lines, markings or shapes seem to be conflicting. In that case, it is better not to guess the possible outcome. When there is a confusion, then it merely indicates that none of the possible cases will happen or something completely different will occur.

On an ending note, there is some advice for the beginners. Always try to be objective and clear on what you try to say. Never try to get control over others by reading their palms. And the most important one: Never take palm reading casually.
