"Mommy/Teacher" - These are the two responses Tere would answer as a child when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up.
Now, all grown up and the mother of 3 children; Tere homeschools (teacher) and loves parenting (mommy) her children. So, her dreams are lived out each and every day.
While she would like to think of herself as a natural at parenting and teaching, Tere has pursued education in regard to these topics. Prior to receiving a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts, she also received an Associates Degree in Human Services with an added interest and emphasis in child development and psychology. She has served as a teacher relief at an Academy of Children, taught Sunday School, and received training and conducted volunteer work at Life Crisis (Suicide hotline). Her first call was a suicide in progress which was diverted.
Her parenting education was furthered upon the birth of her first child who was a high need infant. He would not let her put him down for long. So, she would sit and read while he nursed & slept. She read about parenting furthering her knowledge on many points of view.
She believes that the early years are vitally important in laying a foundation for children. "Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it."
