If you need a dedicated server, look no further than Pronet Hosting. I run a variety of commercial websites, from high-traffic blogs to video sharing sites to ecommerce stores and I’ve tried dedicated server packages from GoDaddy, EasyCGI, and HostGator, and my conclusion is that you can’t beat the value and performance of Pronet Hosting.

For $49 per month, Pronet Hosting provides you with a dedicated Intel 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo machine with 2GB RAM and a 2 x160 GB RAID 1 drive setup. In plain English, that’s a very powerful server that can scale your website to hundreds of thousands to millions of users per month. Most of the competition charges over $100 per month for an equivalent setup. Pronet Hosting is simply a newer player in the market that is simply undercutting the competition in terms of price. However, it’s not just price, the company offers a range of services and extras that make the value even more compelling.

Unlimited bandwidth

Pronet Hosting does not place a cap on the total bandwidth consumed by your server. If your site receives a lot of traffic, or if you run a bandwidth-heavy site such as a video or music sharing site / server, this is a critical account feature which will enable you to avoid extra costs for bandwidth when traffic is heavy. With some other hosting companies, I’ve had months where I’ve had to pay several hundred extra per month when traffic loads got high.

Cost-free, pain-free full website transfer

If you already have your site hosted at another web hosting company, Pronet Hosting’s tech support staff will completely move your site over for you. This includes FTP files, MySQL databases, domain, and any PHP / Rails / Perl scripts you have on your old server. Just sit back and let the experts handle it - that’s the way to do it. I’ve spent way too many late nights troubleshooting server migrations - migrating onto Pronet was so much easier I wonder how I ever did it the old way.

Free domain forever

This is a nice perk that is rarely offered by hosting providers - when you sign up with Pronet Hosting you can choose a domain which will be included for the life of your service at no extra charge. Its just an extra freebie and its nice to know that you never have to pay a renewal fee for your domain.

24 / 7 customer support

I’ve hosted with some companies that offer only weekday customer support, and let me say that you should definitely avoid this at all costs! You will find way too many times at night or on the weekends when things go haywire and you won’t have anyone to help you get your site up. There’s no feeling worse than watching your site return 404 error pages during high traffic weekend hours, because your hosting company has gone home for the weekend. Always-on 24 x7 customer support is key. Pronet Hosting offers great live tech support - you can always reach them via phone or chat, and they will do whatever is needed to resolve your issue. I’ve learned a great deal just working with these guys, they know their stuff and are willing to walk you through it. One nice benefit is that they offer you free video tutorials on basic server technologies and how to setup your server.

Other options

There are other great dedicated server hosting companies out there such as HostGator and InMotionHosting - but both of these companies charge about double what Pronet does. And frankly, you do not get as much. Pronet Hosting is simply the best value out there for dedicated server hosting - and I have had good experiences with them so I must highly recommend them. Would love to hear your thoughts on them or any other dedicated hosting company here.
