It is possible to reduce puffy eyes with out having surgery of forking out a ton of money on beauty products. Swollen eyes can be reduced by not spending any money and using products around your home. Ample sleep will help decrease the puffiness of your eyes. Try to elevate your head while resting instead of laying flat on your back. By doing this, the fluids in your body will drain downward; decreasing the amount of fluid gathering around your eyes when you sleep. A simple change in diet will also help. Decrease the amount of salt you take in daily; salt dehydrates the skin. Eight, eight ounce glasses of water are a necessity. Keeping hydrated is important to your entire body, helping your body to flush waste. Unfortunately, we can’t always control our sleep patterns. With children, work and responsibilities, our sleep can sometimes suffer.

A cold compress is your next best thing to reduce puffiness. A frozen eye mask can be purchased for around $3 or $4 (http://www.colonialmedical.com/product.php?productid=19431) and can be applied at night while you are sleeping. If you can not purchase an eye mask, small ice packs or round gel packs can be placed over the eyes too. If you are unable to purchase ice packs, try frozen spoons. Place 2 spoons in the freezer take out and place the convex/rounded side against your eyes.

The kitchen can be a resourceful place to find items to decrease sore, puffy eyes. Slice raw cucumbers or potatoes and place them over the eyes. Tea bags will work too. Place tea bags in cold water for several minutes and then place them over the eyes. The “food” method should be used for about 15 -30 minutes. Make sure to thoroughly wash your face after removing the food items.

Witch hazel and Rose water have also been known to reduce puffy eyes. Cotton make-up remover pads can be purchased at most drug stores or grocery stores. Take two cotton pads and soak with witch hazel or rose water. Lay a pad on each eye for 15 to 20 minutes. Again, remember to wash you face when you are finished treating you eyes.

There are many products out there that claim to “fix” you eyes; products ranging from $5.00 to $500.00. The majority of people do not have the extra money to waste on products that may not work. These home remedies are extremely inexpensive or even free. Please remember that there are many reasons for puffy eyes. If your symptoms do not seem to go away or become worse, you should seek medical advice.
