I was really surprised at how mild last nights Hell’s Kitchen was. Chef Ramsey hardly barked at all. I thought it was a brilliant idea for Gordon to put people together who don’t get along, what better way to see how people are going to do over all in strength than to pair them with someone they can’t stand. It shows the point that this is business not personal. You have to be able to walk into a kitchen, or any high stress environment, and put your differences aside to get the job done.
The sausage challenge was really interesting. I’ve never made sausages before and it looks difficult, but I thought all of the contestants did really well except, of course, for Robert and Jim. The girls really shined during this exercise, especially Tennille and Suzanne. That was the big surprise because it is so obvious that those two butt heads and I was really surprised when they hugged at the end of the exercise. Kevin and Dave almost had them even with Dave’s hand being messed up. Robert and Jim were the obvious disappointment for the men’s kitchen, even a guy with a handicap and a barking dog managed to put Robert and Jim to shame. Which brings me to Kevin. I don’t know how he thinks he can be a head chef when the only mode he knows is drill sergeant. You can’t expect to have a great kitchen when all you do is yell at people.
It was no surprise when the men were cleaning that Robert and Kevin had it out. Robert is acting like a sore looser and whine, whine, whine. OMG, I just wanted to tell him to shut up! It’s just like Scott said, he needs to take all that passionate energy and pour it into the kitchen. I hope he had fun breaking that broom and I certainly hope it makes him feel better. Robert needs to look at Dave for an example, the guy is working with a fracture for goodness sakes, and man can he hustle with nary a complaint.
The two slow pokes, Lovely and Jim are obviously dragging the kitchens down. While I was watching them last night I swore I could hear the Jeopardy theme song playing. I knew lovely wouldn’t make it and Jim isn’t far behind. Suzanne really needs to get her ego in check, that will be her downfall. She is going to be the one this season to drag her team down emotionally. I think if Tennille can set aside her differences she has a chance, but she’s going to have to get away from her distaste for Suzanne.
There were two people that really shined last night and that was obviously Sabrina and Dave. So, at this point those are my two picks, but it’s too early to tell. If you have any guesses leave me a comment and let me know, I’d be curious to see what everyone else thinks.
